Best win/performance you've seen from a journeyman?
Re: Best win/performance you've seen from a journeyman?
Mark Tibbs was being groomed for better things and Chris Saunders beat him and then a little while later beat Kevin Lueshing.
John Keeton beating Dean Francis was a good result and you could see how much it meant to 'Buster'.

Geraint boxed a few more times after that win which was a big win Tony has highly rated by his gym matesjosco wrote:For me one of the best performances of recent years was that of Geraint Harvey wiping the floor with widely touted and highly skilled prospect Tony Doherty. Don't think Tony ever fought again and Geraint only had one more fight - often wondered whether he might have been frozen out.

"Wrecking Crew" was highly touted and hlew away Geraint Harvey(think after this 1) terry was coming off a few years out if remember rightly kept stepping right and giving him anglesChris W 1982 wrote:DougieCampbell wrote:I have always been impressed by Youseef Al Hamidi. Seen Al Hamidi look the part against Anthony Crolla on a Khan undercard a few years ago.
Terry Carruthers went through Trevor Crewe with ease on a Steve Wood show back in 2009. Awful snow that day but Carruthers was worth the hassle. Funnily enough, Al Hamidi fought on that bill. He lost to Stephen Jennings over 4
Snow was unreal and thought show would of fell apart but didn't as always best day of year

Ali Nuumbembe taking the C'wealth of Kevin Anderson. I beat the bookies that day, but you couldn't really call Ali a journeyman by any stretch. Unknown, yes, journeyman, no.
Thompson - Haye (again, maybe I'm getting journeyman and underdog mixed up).
Bradley Pryce - Ossie Duran.
Sam webb was beaten by Alex spitko opening a huge cut who was also early mentioned took willie bilan out think in 1 Rnd and also beat chris black on points in Scotland I'm sure

Buck Smith upsetting Kirkland Laing was a shocker. Really felt for Kirkland, it derailed his last realistic run at a world title.

Bit of an injustice on him, but Tony Pace's win over Francis Luke Robinson.

The late Mervyn Bennetts win over unbeaten (at the time) prospect Gareth Jordan which was televised on ITV (in Wales).

Thaxton/Ryan was a huge upset at the time, although a few people had questioned Ryan's ability to take a solid whack on the chops.
Keeton/Oliver, saw that live.
Also on that card was the journeyman win of all wins surely?
Tony Booth beating Omar Sheika.

I do appreciate how Cruz, Thaxton and Barkley could be viewed as not being journeymen though
Re: Best win/performance you've seen from a journeyman?
Couple of different angles here.
Journeyman was probably Buck Smith beating Kirkland Laing for me.
Slighly off the mark here, but I have seen so many Jorneyman (Laight, Allen, Razak) lose that Carl Allen winning at Bowlers the other week was a strange one although he deserved it.

Err, the Keeton result was of a (allegedly) highly dodgy nature.palooka wrote:Mark Tibbs was being groomed for better things and Chris Saunders beat him and then a little while later beat Kevin Lueshing.
John Keeton beating Dean Francis was a good result and you could see how much it meant to 'Buster'.

Bernard Paul hadn't done great and had a spotty record when he knocked Jason Rowland out in 1 round.
Alex Spitko knocked out Willie Bilan in a couple of rounds - Bilan had never been hit that hard before - it was man v boy, I felt sorry for Willie.
Bernard wasn't a Journeyman... He was a champion.

It didn't look dodgy to me, Dean got clumped by a very heavy handed boxer in Buster; he was out of it, not play acting and Keeton went for it like his life depended on it.
