To be fair Tom, if I broke someone's jaw and then kept hitting him I'd know how he reacted before the break, which punch broke the jaw and the difference in his reactions after. Beltran has no reason to lie, in my eyes he won the fight and he ought to get an immediate rematch somewhere neutral or on his own ground. It suits both Ricky and Billys agenda (it builds a legend) to say the jaw was broken very early does add to the mystique; he may have had his jaw broken in the 2nd round but it is more likely that it was a fair bit later. Ricky was very brave and lots of boxers would have bailed, he deserves credit for that but his bravery does not require any embellishment and he did not deserve the decision - in a nice guy and brave fellow contest no doubt but not on the 12 rounds of boxing the judges were there to judge.

I agree he got beat and the decision was very poor, I just don't think he's a liar is what I am saying.

It looks better for Ricky if it happened in the second vs later in the fight because then that excuses Ricky's performance from very early on where he was getting man handled by Beltran.

He's from the next town over from me. I realise I was offensive in my initial post and put it down to bevvy and the fact I had a night out in a part of the country that annoys me, so I apologise.

I do stand by my post saying your overly critical of fighters. Give it a bash yourself it's no easy. I had a few am fights and have a chronic neck injury that's been giving me jip for well over a decade. I got it in sparring.[/quote]

Anyway, I wasnt trying to downplay what Ricky went through in that fight as he showed he's tough as they come but the reason I questioned when the break happened aswell was because I watched the fight back and it was later in the fight that Ricky started grimacing in the corner vs early on. Ps stop hating on my neck of the woods

I stand by what decisions I made during that fight, Ricky was always in that fight and won the 11th and 12th rounds clearly.
The thing is I know Ricky better than any of you, so that places me in a better position than anyone as to pull him out the fight or not, in hindsight if id have pulled him he still would have needed recovery time but hes a least got the comfort of knowing he's still the belt holder

I can also reassure all the doubters that the last thing on Ricky's mind just now is his jaw, he been back in the gym 3 weeks and getting himself fit and he's in a very positive frame of mind, he knows these things happen unfortunately it happened to him, he's accepted that and moved on. if only people on here could do the same and there not the ones going in to battle haha

You need to give yourself a shake. You get so upset about people's opinions. End of the day they are speaking about Ricky!! Thats pretty good sign if he wasn't that good then no one would say nothing. As his coach you should be rising above all of this. These people who have opinions basically pay you, Ricky and all boxers wages if it wasn't for them you would probably be cleaning the Car Park in Mcdonalds!!(that's a joke by the way)Without the people on these forums who pay for tickets and who pay to watch on TV there wouldn't be boxing. So even if you think there opinions are poo it would probably stand you in good stead to remember that. I will always be a big Ricky Burns fan and will want him to win whoever he is fighting you can insult me all you won't it won't change my mind..

On to the posts about pulling Ricky out. Billy was spot on. If you listen between the round Billy dealt with it spot on. All boxers will tell you sometimes in fight you can feel a bit sorry for yourself. You need a strong corner to keep you going. End of the day he kept his title in a close fight. If Billy had pulled him out then I'm sure Ricky would have been really upset. I hope these posts will not influence any future decisions. Fighters get hurt its a contact sport
