Groves could have easily have become more bankable if it wasn't for that headlock foster did him with. Ten more years in him, a Londoner and a true puncher, Groves was on the verge of becoming an international superstar.freddydoesdallas wrote:Completely agree. Cracking comment. There are "fans" on sky sports saying he's a coward & will bottle the rematch. I mean, has the man not given us enough?
I know he acted a bit of a nob but u cant dismiss the nights he's given us. He's gone from hero to public enemy no.1 it seems, boxing fans are so fickle. I remember loads of people rating howard foster before sat as well, saying he's the best in the country etc.... best man for the job.... I'm pretty sure it was on here.
On the topic of Hearns siding with Froch in the build-up, why is anyone surprised that a businessman was sticking by one of his most bankable assets?

Glad to see a select few are still talking sense after the weekends events. I was there and I was disgusted at the boos for Froch after the career he's had. Groves deserved all the ovations but Froch didn't need to be booed.freddydoesdallas wrote:Completely agree. Cracking comment. The stoppage was a bit quick but Froch didn't ask the ref to do it. I thought the boos started due to him not shacking hands with George directly at the end.danamba7 wrote:freddydoesdallas wrote:Completely agree. Cracking comment. that's the impression I got from 5Live, they picked up on it straight away.

You may be right but they then went on to hug it out and the boos continued. It was a massive proportion of the crowd too.n1ebf wrote:this ^^^

Big arena boxing crowd's aren't the brightest tho - and the idiots tend to be the ones that make the most noise. I've never booed a fighter and I always applaud both fighters when they are announced (at shows), even if it's only half-hearted and they're fighting our camp. They're putting it on the line too, it's just respect.danamba7 wrote:You may be right but they then went on to hug it out and the boos continued. Nothing worse than some fat pie-muncher booing who wouldn't get up to go and switch on their own tele

I don't know which fans are the worst between these ^ or the Las Vegas lot who skip every undercard fight only to turn up for the last fight to see Mayweather or whoevern1ebf wrote:Big arena boxing crowd's aren't the brightest tho - and the idiots tend to be the ones that make the most noise. Re: Froch & Eddie are so disrespectful to Groves
People seemed to boo the initial stoppage, more so when it got the slow-mo replay on the big screens and then booed Froch as he was droning on and on in the post-fight interview like he was explaining to a small child why he was naughty. In all the post-fight interview (which went on for some time) he was really mealy mouthed about giving Groves any credit, which is why I think the majority of people booed him and clapped/cheered Groves comments.
Re: Froch & Eddie are so disrespectful to Groves
Spot on mate, the fickleness of the British public has been shown with this fight. Froch has been a great ambassador for boxing in this country and for taking fights in other people's back yards, fighting whoever is put in front of him.stevieb_8006 wrote:no more disrespectful than certain fans are to froch in light of Saturday. the way some people are reacting u'd think he stopped the fight himself. The fact is that most casual fans have only clocked onto him since he went with Matchroom so I don't think they quite realise what Froch is all about - Saturday is what he does - sometimes he meets a better boxer but more often than not he finds a way to win, that is what makes him the world champion.
Any way you look at it, groves was struggling at that point, so to blame Froch and come out booing him was just ridiculous.
Re: Froch & Eddie are so disrespectful to Groves
I agree with the majority of this and froch really owes us nothing. He found a way to win despite the shitty stoppage (and it really was terrible) so he has to be respected for that. However, I feel he let himself down in the post fight interviews, and I think he will realise this as well. For the record I believe Carl wins a rematch as he took groves too lightly and won't make that mistake againTheCobra wrote:Spot on mate, the fickleness of the British public has been shown with this fight. All the videos I have seen is Froch telling people how disrespectful groves is/was...and then be disrespectful in return....slagging off fighters like Glenn Johnson (oops) as domestic class.
All this while George is sitting there saying nothing.
Was it that youtube video George made that really wound up froch?
Groves said in his opinion Carl Froch lost to Andre Dirrell.
Think that really got under his skin.

To be honest George Groves went over the top on ringside and it was embarrassing to watch,
But Carl Froch was like a child from the very first press conference, When he came out and said Groves breath stinks.
Froch then starts taking the piss out of Groves trousers.
Carl Froch was childish and pathetic before and after the fight !
Re: Froch & Eddie are so disrespectful to Groves
The British public have always been the same. Its the same type of "fans" that bad mouth Haye, but have never even heard of Jean Marc Mormeck.TheCobra wrote:Spot on mate, the fickleness of the British public has been shown with this fight.
