I bet he's fuming at not being nominated for SPOTY. Seriously. When you consider the global success he's had(in England) this year, I can't believe he's not on the short list. I bet he's a nightmare to watch it with. Boxers have done well in over the years too. Some of our real crossover stars have done well in it.

Exactly mickey - they have to have an element of self deprecating humour and good grace for their fantastic fortune; Froch has got the demeanor of a bailiff.

Joe wasn't exactly a personality, in fact he was hard work, but still won it, while on Setanta! #undefeated!

Of course I cringed when he refused to shake George's hand, but let's be honest here, just like George said he would take centre of the ring and force Froch back - Carl by the same token said when I stop you, don't think I will shake your hand.

I know people love a romantic ending, where they both embrace and talk into each other's eyes before sitting on the ring apron with their arms around one another, paying each other huge compliments before getting a standing ovation..

..but Carl ain't like that, he is a bad ass, a proper mother trucker and an arrogant international superstar iron man.

Embrace it ! :D

PS- I dont forecast the BBC sports personality award coming to Nottingham this year though.
I enjoy reading your posts. As you're close to Froch, why does his brother wear sunglasses in a boxing ring?

I've never met Carl Froch, so I don't know him well enough to know whether he is an 'arrogant asshole' or not.

If I was going to make a uneducated judgement on him, I've still only ever seen Carl Froch when he's at work. He's a boxer and I've pretty much only seen him either 'selling' a fight or getting interviewed afterwards. That's when he's at work. Plenty of people are totally different outside of work, so I'm certainly not going to judge Carl Froch on that.

I'd say the same for George Groves or any other boxer for that matter.

This thread is a load of bollocks.

It is getting clearer now that this thread is disingenuous.
Nothing disingenuous.

Basically pointing out that his lack of ability to generate public support is going to affect him being a PPV star.

Other PPV stars could have fought a vagrant off the street and them still sold it. I can't see Froch being able to warrant PPV bar anyone but Groves, and the beef is selling that.

Carl Froch is genuinely one of the nicest most surprising individuals I've met in boxing - anyone can put up a front on a microphone he's a nice chap...

Reminds me of the press guys saying that Dalglish is prickly when on the spot with the press, but is a lovely fella, whilst Keegan plays the game press and public game well but is actually quite unpleasant as a person

It looks as though he is ducking out of the rematch...that seems, from his quotes a fact, as Groves has 'blown it'

I think he's actually quite shy and awkward and perhaps doesn't always believe what he's saying, hence the almost abrasive nature of his interviews/comments.

I've met him quite a few times and sometimes he's been great others awkward. Being in the spotlight is difficult.

Sky and Hearn are hyping him to high heavens and whilst deserved it must be a bit much for him sometimes.

Of course he's going to be ok with you, you were taking Blackledge over weren't you? It's those outside Team Froch he can't handle.

Froch comes across well most of the time I think. He is good, so why can't he say so. boxers seem in general more arrogant than other individual sports folk eg, tennis players - Lennox Lewis a prime example. Fine line between confidence and arrogance

Most top sportsman have an arrogant streak, it comes with the territory.

One thing that did surprise me…and I’d love to hear Gomez’s take on this…

Carl is a great professional who has been all over the world and done the business. He’s used to the big fights.

Groves’s chat in the build up was just marketing banter… I suspected that Carl knew this. But in the post-fight reaction Carl seemed to be genuinely p’d off with Groves…as though he did actually take it personally.

This seems to me like a sign that Groves did actually get under Carl’s skin...though he'd never admit it...

There's not many on here know Adam Booth, David Cameron or Ian Duncan Smith or even Mr Warren but there's plenty who have seen enough of them and their pronouncements to gauge whether or not they are grade 'A' cocks.

Sorry if this has been posted already, but Christ, Froch gets worse. Punches to the head aren't good for you apparently, he doesn't expand on the many he took for 8 rounds without a stoppage mind........

He's quite the diplomat; if the architectural drawing and design doesn't come off he seems to have a flair for making bridges and seems a thoughtful and intelligent man; maybe counselling or some other profession where he sees others as his equal?
