Re: Groves ridicules Froch with mock photo
I remember seeing a bit on sky about the Dirrel/Groves spar. George was in Miami getting tough sparring ( similar to how Haye went about it ) and was looking pretty marked up. From what I see, sky insinuated that Dirrel was giving him a bit of a going over and Andre himself gave off the impression this was the case.
It doesn't matter a tiny bit though. That sparring probably won him the DeGale fight and would have been very beneficial to him at that stage in his career.

Re: Groves ridicules Froch with mock photo
Carl Froch has built a good reputation on the fact he had a run of tough fights. And credit where credit is due to the man.
He used every opportunity to try to use these fights to diminish Calzaghes run at the top, in an attempt to paint himself as superior. Where as the truth is, Froch had no other options.
He has proved now that given an easier option he will take it. There is no real critism there, except that he mocked Calzaghe for supposedly doing the same.
Carl will be looking for a pension fight next. He loses against the next half decent fighter he faces, and gets knocked out by the next decent fighter.
Andre Ward would knock him out next time.

Re: Groves ridicules Froch with mock photo
Why is Groves referring to when Adonis was Froch's mandatory ?
1. He was knocked out easily, then rebounded with a win over Don George and looked nothing special
2. The Kessler II fight was one everyone was clamouring for and it sold out the 02 in under an hour.
3. Groves got to spar Kessler and build his animosity for Froch there.
4. Groves was paid well to be a chief support fight, which cemented his mandatory
If he hadn't "ducked" Adonis, tell me - where would that have left Groves, fighting in Leisure centres still ?
Strange outburst at best by George really when you consider it all.

Back then nobody, apart from Stevenson, was pushing for him to get a shot. Everybody wanted the Kessler rematch.
Stevenson became the big name he currently is after he moved up to 175.
Froch said at the time he wanted Kessler but if it was to be Stevenson, then so be it.
If Adonis had not moved up, he would have got the fight instead of Groves.

If that's how you want to look at it. George could say he was headlining PPV's at The O2 whilst Carl was fighting on the road on Primetime. Or, when he was 25, Carl was on Leisure Centre UNDERCARDS.G0mez wrote:Why is Groves referring to when Adonis was Froch's mandatory ?

Re: Groves ridicules Froch with mock photo
Was watching an interview & groves was banging on about the unjust & that he has got other options but ain't going to earn the money he deserves, I think all he thinks about is the green!!he was bashing froch up until the sixth & that was a pretty good beating in that round & he dropped of the gas or couldn't maintain it? Groves said froch only had success once in the fight which resulted in him being rescued & he was out of sorts,
Froch needs to take on bika & let dirrel & groves duke it out!

Yes I do.Riddick Blowe wrote:

Just because Nathan lost to a guy who looks set to be the top man in the lightheavy division hasn`t changed my mind.
And based on how Froch performed in his last fight, kinda makes me more confident that Nathan would win.
But its all opinion as to who would and wouldn`t win in that mythical match up anyways.
Its also my opinion that Froch does not realistically ever expect Ward to fight him again. Ward was clearly too good for Carl last time, and Ward has improved - whilst Carl shown signs of slipping.
And based on that. I really do believe Ward would stop Carl if they ever fought again ..
But Ward is in the mix nowadays (once his contract is sorted) for bigger and better fights than what Froch offers.
I think the Chavez fight is what Froch will go looking for.

Mocked by who? A few people on a boxing forum? In the eyes of the world of boxing chavez is a bigger name and a better opponent for froch,to the eyes of british boxing fans groves is a bigger fight for froch. If i was froch id tell boy george to do one cause he has proved his point with him,o.k it was a bit tougher than he expected but he got the job done. Groves is a great fighter. But he is not a licence to print money.mickey1975 wrote:

Whichever way you cut it, Groves has had 2 big fights and both times he was the 'opponent'. A British title fight is never PPV worthy.
After beating Degale he went on to fight 6 times, 5 of which he was not the headline attraction and was on the undercard. Groves vs Kessler would not sell out the 02 at all, let alone in under an hour.
Against Glen Johnson where he was regarded as the main fight , I'm sure Burns & Cleverly were in the mix to headline and they all fell by the wayside and only then did his fight emerge at the top and there was plenty of spare seats in that audience.
Whatever Groves does next he shall be the 'Opponent' , whether that is Froch or anyone else.
It would appear promoter's simply have not had the commitment from him to pump huge sums of cash into putting him as a headline and forking out to get a champion in. He is thinking like a heavyweight superstar and in reality he is a super middle who lost his last fight.
Unless he signs a big deal with Hearn with multiple fights in it the contract, he will be viewed as something of a lone ranger.
One things for sure, if Froch decides to tell him to piss off, his aspirations of seven-figure purses in his next fight go up in smoke. Whereas Froch has paid his dues and has a super 6 solid relationship with the boss of HBO in Ken Hershman, who is one of Froch's biggest fans.
People forget that Carl can pick up a million+ purse from various HBO fights.
Whereas Groves has his little funny pictures and his twitter hastags - and they don't put a roof over your head.
The guy is something of a parasite, he has dined on that Degale win for years, and now he looks set to dine out on the stoppage to Froch.
Life isn't fair - and when you act like a wind-up merchant and dick both during and after the fight (that you also lost) then why should the guy you are giving stick, do you any favours whatsoever ?

Re: Groves ridicules Froch with mock photo
Because he has a title & George needs to climb the ladder properly!! Groves could be potentially ruined by a soon retiring froch. It's no different to when haye took on Thompson, had he jumped straight back in he wouldn't be where he is todayHorse wrote:Why?hurlock wrote:Froch needs to take on bika & let dirrel & groves duke it out!

The only one cheated is froch,he was cheated out of stopping groves properly, yes it was premature but 10-20 seconds later groves would of been stopped properly or even put to kip so froch was robbed/cheatedHorse wrote:The vast majority of people thought it was an awful stoppage.thechump wrote:The opinion of this is split, watch replays groves was done.
