Does the Vitali fight keep Lennox up ant night? I doubt it. Does calzaghe wake up in a cold sweat thinking "hmmmm maybe I should have rematched robin reid"........ come to think of it, does groves ever think about owing a certain rematch himself. For a result he didn't really deserve.

The point being: Froch has a huge ego and likes to tell anyone that will listen that he is the second coming, unlike Joe Calzaghe and Lennox Lewis who are much more laid back personalities. I suspect Froch cant let things go quite as easily as the people you have named.stevieb_8006 wrote:I dont know why people actually think things like "this fight will haunt froch in retirement". Froch has the same type of personality as Steve Collins (no-nonsense alpha male) and anyone who saw Sky's recent Gloves Off show will have seen how uncomfortable and ruffled Collins reacted when Eubank barbed him about avoiding Calzaghe.
Similar to Collins being questioned about Calzaghe, Froch wont take future questioning about Groves well. The signs of this are already evident in Froch's interviews about a rematch since the fight.
Froch will not like his legacy being tarnished and forever linked to a controversial fight with Groves.

I agree Froch is no Lewis or Calzaghe. Let's be honest here Lewis knew he couldn't beat Vitali so he retired. He got out of jail in that fight so well done to him. As for Froch if he retires or admits he thinks Groves could his career then everyone would have a lot more respect for him.. As for Calzaghe v Reid it's a non comparison most people think Calzaghe won that fight so doesn't matter what way you put it

At the end of the day, Lewis won a fair stoppage. Nobody wanted it, but it was the right thing to do. Lewis was not very popular because of the lack of fights he had Prime v Prime. However the Vitali bout did more good than harm. Despite having ZERO personality, he managed to secure himself a HBO contract in commentating and he's always been around.
Calzaghe's career was very well engineered but again, he's faded into obscurity apart from surfacing for an obscure dance show and a charity football match.
Hatton was the popular, but even he is struggling with his promotion company.
Naz didn't care anymore, but he's taken care of his money and is probably more well off than most boxers since he actually had some intellect.
Froch has the least popularity from all major boxers. He has a good resume, but let's face it, the casual boxing fan will struggle to name more than one/two. He will be remembered for whatever boxing fans will remember him for. The ridiculous stoppage against Groves.
A stoppage so ridiculous that the crowd who were once booing Groves as he entered, was booing Froch
Re: Froch please shut up your making a mug of yourself.
Don't you think they were booing Froch because of the decision and it was the only way to voice their opinion that it was a load of bullshit and by cheering Groves for a great performance maybe that some thought impossible and changed their tune about also they were voicing a little that the decision was a load of bollocks? It is not like a football match where 30 thousand can actually organize very specific chants aimed at specific things, sack the board, who is the bastard in the black and a thousand other funny things through out history.observer1 wrote:At the end of the day, Lewis won a fair stoppage. It is like the crowd booing Metallica if they don't play Master of Puppets or your favourite song, I am booing because I want them to continue for another 3 hours and play the song I want, I know deep down they won't but my boos make me feel better and sho solidarity with my fellow booers, I want value for money, my boo isn't aimed at the Band it is my selfish wish to see more. I think a lot of people there quite rightly in the heat of the moment were just plain pissed off that a total cracker of a fight was ruined and they were not aiming boos at Froch but the way it went in the only way the knew how. Many other places there could well have been mass rioting.

Very good point - however Groves being the **** he is has played his cards too early!! If he played the humble card, he could have let his promoter & manager (has he got either??) negoitiate for him whilst keeping the public outcry for the rematch burning!!TJ77 wrote:He said he would give him a rematch.Spud wrote:Completely agree - people who think otherwise need to get themselves up to date.jackukmma wrote:Froch has a couple of fights left in him and makes millions on PPV whoever he boxes. Instead, in my most humble opinion Groves has acted like an egotistical, arrogant **** and disrespected a great world champion who has done this country proud by consistently taking on the very best the Super Middleweight division has to offer .... yet for the very first time Froch is refusing ...
Groves needs to wise up - in my opinion, (written for the p*ck who phoned me yesterday) he will only have the very fickle publics backing for a short term before they turn on him ... lets wait an see we will bring this thread up again in the not too distant future!! ;;-)

Look, Froch bleated on about Kessler 2 being the rematch the fans wanted to see, now the fans are actually telling him what they want to see, a fight that would be the biggest out there for him and he's talking about not doing it. We all know why, you do too.

“The judges’ scores were irrelevant because it didn’t go to them. By round four I had it level, maybe a point or two in it, but obviously my scoring would be biased towards me. Round nine would have been 10-8, but you can’t count that. I was probably behind but it was close. Boxing is a 12-round sport – I think it should still be 15 – and it’s only over when the fat lady sings.”

This quote made me laugh, perhaps someone should explain to him what both of those words mean."I beat him fair and square. The referee stopped the contest and there is no argueing about the fact he was down and out.

Re: Froch please shut up your making a mug of yourself.
Lewis couldn't beat Vitali? He DID beat Vitali. Not a case of getting out of jail. Been over it a million times before, he was behind by two rounds on the scorecards, had wn the previous two rounds and was getting the upper hand in the fight. It was only at the halfway stage too, and despite Lewis looking out of shape right from the off, Vitali was blowing out of his arse by then too. Vitali had never gone the distance or been involved in a tough fight before whereas Lewis had seen it all by that stage and gone the full 12 in world title fights plenty of times. People often overlook such things just because Vitali had a good opening two rounds! Even having said all that, Lewis still beat him. Vitali would have never fought again had that fight been allowed to reach what some morons would describe as a 'natural conclusion'. ( man losing an eye I the ring can never be described as a 'natural conclusion' in my book! )daviddee wrote:I agree Froch is no Lewis or Calzaghe. Calzaghe Reid was as tight as a nuns. Reid deserved a rematch every bit as much as Groves does now.
Groves deserves another chance but his problem is Froch is old ( well it not his problem, it actually helped him their fight ) and I think only has one fight left in him, if any at all.
Its a shame Groves didnt screw his loaf, praise Froch to the heavens after the first fight and bang on about how it was an honour to share the ring with such a legend etc
If he had done that the rematch would probably be signed already!

Does spud think the same way of Hayes treatment to wladimir?
Atleast groves backed it up.

What was it that Groves actually did that was disrespectful in the build up?

Love this assumption that Round 9 would have been 10-8 to Froch..... watch the full round again guys, Groves outboxed Froch for the first minute of it.... Froch 20 second spell was edging him the round at the time of the stoppage yes, but no way was it heading for a 10-8 round... unless Froch continued to pummel him - and we'll never know about that.
Re: Froch please shut up your making a mug of yourself.
Groves didn't seem anywhere near as hurt as the screaming commentators suggested and Froch's attacks were fairly clumsy and he wasn't landing much clean.stujones wrote:Love this assumption that Round 9 would have been 10-8 to Froch..... watch the full round again guys, Groves outboxed Froch for the first minute of it.... Like Stujones said Froch might not have even won that round if it had continued. It was the most shameful stoppage that I have seen.

I am on the train at the moment ... I will respond to you tossers asap ... With regards to being in the minority never will have a problem there.
I remember years ago I stated Carl Froch would be a multiple world champion, i got ridiculed etc etc, now i am saying George Groves will be exposed for the **** I think he is - I am holding a couple of cards in my hand and for a change I am going to deal them at the right time.
