Re: Where is Dave coldwell going???
coldwell has a big money backer....he'll be ok whilst he's still onboard......

cant see BN working with coldwell.....Aden wrote:Over the past few years, I've been to more of Coldwell's shows than any other promoters. I'd like to see him bag a decent heavyweight prospect. I'm disappointed things didn't work out with Burton.
It would be good if allegedly and Coldwell and Wood etc could strike a deal where the best fights/prospects from their shows are broadcast on BN on delay during the week.

For David Coldwell to make it in his own right ... he needs the obvious ... a TV deal.Parson Cross wrote:Not a prayer.

Dave has provided Eddie Hearn some top lads and produced a lot of good fights ... it will be good for boxing if the likes of Coldwell and other promoters to get some decent TV ...
For me I do not see why Sky cant put on other promoters shows other than Eddie Hearns ... even if they gave say 6 shows a year to other promoters who have to fight to get their shows on ... in my view some healthy competition would raise the standard of some of the more predictable fights and shows.
Re: Where is Dave coldwell going???
I agree Spud, but lets be honest it aint gonna happen. When Hobson was touting the Jamie McDonnells fight around Eddie said he would promote but Hobson wasn't going on Sky on his own steam.

I think if Coldwelll finds himself a way of breaking into TV ... I actually think he could do very well for himselflos2 wrote:its how much his backer is prepared to lose...Final round wrote:Skint..if he carries on with this boxing lark. (he made a profit on one show this year)
I have in the last 14 years working in boxing only ever met 1 promoter is NOT a *** ... not unduly slating promoters there because they have to be ****s whether they like it or not to survive ...

Haroon Khan added to bill 7 February. Shaping up nicely for a local small hall show.

The big lad didn't have the technique to touch gloves.
Re: Where is Dave coldwell going???
When did Coldwell cease his position as Head of Boxing at Hayemaker? Was there some sort of fall out, and is Coldwell still well connected to Hayemaker? For a while you could never watch anything Hayemaker related without seeing Coldwell and Booths heads looking out of Hayes pockets.Spud wrote:Dave Coldwell is doing ok for himself, however he has a f*cking huge problem ... he needs a headline fighter who will stay loyal to him.
In addition he needs TV to be a little more flexible than the monopolies that are occuring at the moment ... As soon as a fighter wins a decent fight ... the vulchers from the TV companies are hovering for the fighter to sign for their promoter.
The way boxing is in regards to TV opportunities has closed many doors in regards to other promoters becoming major players.

Dave has no connection with Hayemaker and hasn't had for a long time.
You don't need a Head of Bxing when the Promotion Company has only one fighter.
A pity Setanta went under.

Mickey,
The two comments weren't connected mate. What I meant was that if Setanta hadn't collapsed then Hayemaker would have kept / expanded the stable and then there would be a definite need for a Head of Boxing / Matchmaker.

Discussed the Setanta situation a couple of days ago with someone ... frustrating to say the least .. their business plan was deeply flawed from the outset.

Genuinly enjoy the cold well shows. Actually has some decent fights although wasn't keen when he was disrespectful to a journeyman for upsetting his fighter on his last bill. Lacked class
