Just remember folks that the Ravenscraig bill could have been put on on the SATURDAY night just as easy and that would have affected both shows. That's what rival promoters/TV companies do elsewhere - intentionally.

We need to really grow up in Scotland. Common sense tells us that rival promoters/trainers/managers should be working together to help professional boxing in this country. I looked at the British rankings in the Boxing News recently and I counted as many boxers in Wales as there were in Scotland even though our population is 4 times greater.

I don't understand why Scottish boxers can't fight other Scottish boxers on a joint promotion. Think of the interest and ticket sales. Would STV not consider covering it on highlights late in evening if the Scottish press built up the fights.

Grown-ups should be able to forgive and forget, especially is there's money to be made. As Don Corleone said " It's business !! "

And a message to Billy Nelson who incidentally I have a great deal of time for. Remember the old adage. Don't step on peoples heads on the way up the ladder, because they'll kick you on the way down !!! - and that's what'll happen when Ricky's finished.

So if Eddie Hearn or Alex Morrison were to fall out with you would Ricky just get rid of you? I think not because you 2 have a good relationship and Ricky makes money for Eddie/Alex so they would just get on with it because it makes business sense.

Sometimes the boxers and the people around them are too nieve and do not realise that they have a say in their careers and a boxer signed to a promoter not making money is useless for the promoter too.

Unlike other promoters in Scotland Alex hasn't NEVER interfered in the training side of any of his fighters that I train, Ricky will always have the same manager and it would purely be Rickys choice should he decide he wanted to try another trainer.
I agree with part of what you say but in my experience I've noticed boxers listen to too many people who haven't any background/ knowledge of boxing and give the totally wrong advice

If Burns loses there are still a lot of interesting fights out there for him which would sell out arenas in scotland. It would obviously depend on what path he intended to take. (Move up in weight etc)

I would obviously like to see him keep his title but if he fails to do so then other fights could suddenly make sense domestically that wouldnt really happen just now. For example, Crolla, Rees (if he continues), Matthews, Murray. He could use any of they guys to help re-build himself and also make good coin along the way.

So even if Ricky loses, I can still see him keeping boxing alive for another couple of years in scotland.

The top of the lightweight scene on the world stage is pretty interesting as all the names have got a big fight lined up. Vasquez has got Shafikov which wont be a walk in the park although I'd fancy Vasquez to come through and Abril has got Troyanovsky who's 33 years old and pretty unknown but is unbeaten and can punch. I've been watching some of him on youtube aswell and he looks pretty decent. That fight is in Russia aswell so he's already got a head start you could say.

If or when he wins then once again he will be back to getting the credit he deserves on here for a while before all the hanging squad are out criticising his next opponents etc.....

Im just working hard trying my best mate, there is however folk out there like in all walks of life who want people who happen to do ok at things to fall on there arse,peter harrison learnt me well about boxing and its politics and what to expect

Scott Allan's definitely one to look out for. Ex triple World kickboxing champ & first fight this Saturday before featuring on the Burns card. I've interviewed him and seen him train. He looks really good.
