#4 with the WBO though, so it's certainly plausible.rio wrote:Disgrace if he gets it He not even if the top 5 super middle weights in England. Hes should fight for the euro belt or better still fight fielding.iamasadlittleboy" wrote:Paul Smith is surely going to want the Abraham fight...
Re: Sounds like the Liverpool card is gonna be good ....
He was really keen to win the Lonsdale belt outright and has one defence to do it. With Fielding being from the same City this would also be Pauls most lucrative fight to date probably.Black Sam Bellamy wrote:There's nothing for Smith to gain from a Fielding fight. Way too risky - a defeat puts him into retirement. I'm sure he's trying to find an opening for some kind of International or Silver belt.
Re: Sounds like the Liverpool card is gonna be good ....
Anyone else think it will all come crashing down on Joe Gallagher soon? With the majority of his fighters start losing towards the end of the year.
Re: Sounds like the Liverpool card is gonna be good ....
Paul Smith wants the Lonsdale for keeps, he was hoping he had a nice easy fight to get this, BBoC have rightly said if he wants the Lonsdale for keeps he needs to fight Fielding. So its time to shut up or put up.
Willl be a great fight will sell the Echo Arena out.
With Dodson being out, if they both get new opponents for this card, lets see Rocky beat Paul for the British as their next fight.

Not really. One or 2 maybe, but nothing which comes close to a disaster.TopGun wrote:Anyone else think it will all come crashing down on Joe Gallagher soon? With the majority of his fighters start losing towards the end of the year.

He has a really good stable and knows boxing and how to train; boxers do lose from time to time as it's a very competitive sport; Gallagher will keep on turning out champions.

Opponents for brook and Callum smith, and kal yafai and Stephen smith (who was in the only 50/50 fight on the bill) are off.
The whole bill needs rescuing.

Callum Smith's opponent is a lightweight on there. Thinking that might be Mitchell's tbh. This has sold 8k tickets and is disgusting value at the minute.

What's the thinking here? Just get a load of good names out on one side for easy fights to sell tickets?
Re: Sounds like the Liverpool card is gonna be good ....
That seems to be the matchroom policy. Put on a show with a load of named fighters vs no hopers and the casuals wont know any better. Not that matchroom are the only people guilty of putting on shitty cards.King Tubby wrote:What's the thinking here? Just get a load of good names out on one side for easy fights to sell tickets?

Well, they got unlucky with Dodson and Steven Smith getting injured. Smith actually had a worthwhile opponent if I remember correctly and Fielding v Dodson would have been a good fight in Liverpool.columbo wrote:That seems to be the matchroom policy. I guess we’ve had a good run of it in recent years. Seems like we’ve had lots of top fights…mostly competitive…and with allegedly having allmthe international fights…
But with my wife away for a girls’ weekend I was massively looking forward to this. But it seems like a bit of a marking time bill. I guess Eddie has to build up fighters to get back in at world level.
All I really want is a good competitive fight.
Kell Brook’s career has become massively frustrating. I’m sure Kell and Eddie feel the same. I hope he has a good 2014.
Garcia pretty much has an easy defence too that night. Wilder-Scott might be the best fight of the weekend. But then if they fought Scott had a chance they would never put Wilder in there with him.

You're quite happy to moan when it's a warren show and a Frankie Gavin opponent. Slight double standards and hypocrisy thereDMA1987 wrote:Well, they got unlucky with Dodson and Steven Smith getting injured. Just seen Eddie's tweets. Fielding will be defending his title against Adamu and Paul Smith looks like he might be fighting Webb still but for an Inter-continental title
Re: Sounds like the Liverpool card is gonna be good ....
Neil Perkins vs Ocheing made too.

Re: Sounds like the Liverpool card is gonna be good ....
Erick didn't look so strong in his last bout; Perkins was a very good amateur but i've not seen him box pro; I imagine he'll be a handful. Webb looked half decent when I watched him but Smith is at least a level above and Smith can be devastating when he boxes someone out of his league. He should be boxing Fielding and I hope they get it together soon; Dodson seems a great fellow and has had a decent career but he gets injured a lot and it must cheese him off training and dropping out of fights, I think Fielding would have won, he is coming on in leaps and bounds.

That's because no one has a man crush on Warren.

Perkins is 34 coming onto 35 so I think he's in quite a rush aswell.palooka wrote:Erick didn't look so strong in his last bout; Perkins was a very good amateur but i've not seen him box pro; I imagine he'll be a handful. Excuse me? If people are going to continually talk about Gavin as the second coming, then I'm sorry it stands to reason I expect him to fight better, and go in with better people than he has. Especially when the same people are always digging Brook out.columbo wrote:You're quite happy to moan when it's a warren show and a Frankie Gavin opponent. To be honest I think you would struggle to find many quotes from me on here that criticise Warren shows, especially shows that have fallen apart through injury. I don't like the guy, I don't understand why people give him a pass, but I don't spend 3/4 of my time criticising him. Matchroom do lots right, but people are determined to fornicating tear them apart at every opportunity, it's weird. Its a massive overcompensation in Warren support imo. One thing in life is sure for me - I can come on boxrec and see a thread where Columbo is moaning about ANYTHING Matchroom related. Do I start threads moaning about everything Warren?
Listen mate you seem a nice enough guy, and are certainly harmless, but f*ck me do you moan about everything.
