I'd fancy Framptons chances against Santa Cruz. He's definietly a good fighter but he's pretty one dimensional and he's not hard to land on. On top of that, I dont think he hits particularily hard either. He just wears guys down when he does get the stoppage.

I'd give Frampton a shot at Santa Cruz, but certainly wouldn't make him favourite.

It's a good fight. Santa Cruz is a big bugger at the weight, Frampton would be giving away a lot of height and reach.

I think Frampton beats him in a very close one

Santa Cruz is experienced at the next level up from Frampton. he trains in a hot house hard gym and can throw 1,000 punches over 12 rounds - 600 of them are power shots; many of the men he is beating are as skilled as Frampton and Santa Cruz looks to hold a punch well - I's fancy Framptons' chances if the bout was in Ireland but cant see that happening.

santa cruz got his bggest fee last night $500k surely a massive show in Ireland could give him a bigger pay day than that?

Think they can get 11,000 in if the Odyssey's at full capacity, minimum £40 a ticket = £440,000+ from ticket sales, TV money here, in the US and Mexico, along with sponsorship and they won't spend much on the undercard because Frampton sells all the tickets. $500,000 is just short of £300,000, Santa Cruz would probably want more to travel, although that was on a PPV undercard, $750-800k is £450-480k, I think Santa Cruz would travel for that kind of money and they probably make more than that off the gate, obviously there's various other costs involved, but even a $1m purse is £600k, so depending on how much is made through TV and sponsorships, along with possibly making a loss on the show, I think they could find the cash to bring Santa Cruz to Belfast.

I doubt American or Mexican TV would put much money in if it was fought "in British time time" and allegedly haven't exactly shown a willingness to pump money in to get good fights on their network.

I think they'll be able to beat the $1/2million mark for Leo but not all that easily. I dare say if it was that easy to get Santa Cruz then Yamanaka's team at Teiken would put up the moolah to get him over to Japan (Yamanaka has been very vocal about going up in weight for him)

I'd love to see this. Both guys have impressed me but I'd lean towards Santa Cruz imposing his size and strength while outworking Frampton to a decision.

McGuigan has invested a lot in Frampton, if he has to stump up a bit to get a champion over I think he will and allegedly have pumped money in, almost every decent international fight is on there and while they haven't brought any champions over, there isn't really anyone domestically on the channel that's in a position for a world title fight and they did bring Kovalev to Wales, even though it didn't do any good. Frampton's the biggest draw on the channel and the best ticket seller in the country right now. If they bring Santa Cruz over in the summer, there's the option to go outdoors at somewhere like Windsor Park or Ravenhill, doubling the crowd and they could put it on later to suit US TV if needed, if Santa Cruz was offered double his previous highest purse I think he may be tempted to go on the road, although the fear of being robbed in Japan may worry him and I don't know what sort of draw Yamanaka is to generate the sort of money needed to bring him over.

Did you read the rest of the post? Great bit of selective quoting there. I wasn't suggesting allegedly have forked out big money on Frampton, but I was saying that allegedly have been willing to pay to get big fights on the channel.

I have a feeling Kovalev didn't cost as much as one might think, he took the fight to win the belt to get money from HBO for future fights.

His next fight vs Cazares will be no walkover.

Yeah the guy looks durable and has a fair few 12 rounds recently. Would love Carl to do a demolishion job on him to make a statement.

Scott Quigg was dismissive of him on ringside but hes been fighting at super bantam for nearly a couple of years ranked higher on boxrec than Quiggs opponent. Not seen either fight so won't say who is better.

Very interesting year ahead for Frampton

Quigg really shouldn't be trying to have a pop at anyone's opponents, the best fighter he's faced was a past it Rendall Munroe who was European level at his peak.
