I usually want to see the younger fighter come through in situations like this, its good for the future of the sport. That said, the way some of Groves' fans have whined post fight and the way supposed boxing fans used the situation to lay in to Froch has been disappointing to see. Froch has given British boxing some fantastic nights and mixed at world level for years now. He might come across as a bit of a dick now and then, but the hate he has recieved post Groves has been sad to see. If Groves ends up with half the resume Froch has he will have done well, but already people seem desperate to fast track him to a status he really hasnt earned..... Don't really mind who wins, but it would be kind've fun to see the back tracking and revisionism some people would do on here if Froch ended up stopping him late.

Agree with every word. Froch has come up the hard way, winning the Lonsdale outright and fighting everyone in such a tough division to become 4 time world champion. The fact he has limited ability amplifies his achievements as he's done it mostly on heart and determination. He's tough as nails and makes me proud that he's British. Yet it seems the majority of fans now hate him and for what? Are these people trying to say that all his achievements and all the great nights of boxing he's given to us by putting his neck on the line are forgotten because he says a few debatable things and comes across a little cocky at times!? When did everyone become so sensitive? He's not even that bad! I've seen plenty of interviews where he's come across as a down to earth decent bloke. Plus has everyone completely forgotten the Kessler 2 build up where everyone was praising both for their sportsmanship and rightly so. Boxing seems such a fickle world at the moment.

I knew someone would bring that up. Did they fall out? Did Kessler take it badly? No. This is exactly what I mean, you ignore my whole post full of positives regarding Froch and come up with a negative.

Exactly. Kessler is a class act no doubt about that. But apart from the one stupid thing, Froch was also class pre and post fight. He just seems to be the man people love to hate at the moment which is what I can't get my head around because of his CV and how tough he is. Just get the feeling that if he was Mexican, their whole nation would be behind him. But I may be wrong on that.

This time last year, I'd tell you I liked both men.

As it stands, I still do. I think the level of Froch hate has been disproportionate to what actually happened. He wasn't at fault for the fight being stopped prematurely, that was down to the referee. And at least we're seeing a rematch to (hopefully) rectify the situation.

At the same time, both men seem to be getting a bit petulant in the build up, and were before the last fight. The George Groves before the DeGale fight came across as the more likeable of the two, but started acting the twat before the last fight. Okay, he's probably trying to get buy rates, but it's still annoying. Froch too seems to be intent on trying to look the hardman, which is entirely unneccessary considering he's ducked nobody his whole career.

At the moment I don't have a preference. Carl winning would annoy a lot of the people who are acting like the result in one fight makes him a useless boxer all of a sudden, but Groves winning would annoy DeGale. Which might actually be funnier.

Come back to me the week before the fight. The way they are both going on, I fully expect one of them will have annoyed me sufficiently to make me root for the other.

Froch's a bellend. He's always been a bellend. I was routing for Kessler in that fight on the basis that Kessler is a way nicer bloke.

Groves is a nicer bloke as well, but not as much as Kessler.

Kessler's class and well spoken. He talks more calmly and fluently in English then Froch and Groves combined. Easier to make sense of

I really dont mind people hating him 'as a person' and all that bollocks, I just think its kind've ridiculous to get caught up in that shit when you are a boxing fan..... Froch is way down on the list of people to hate 'as a person' in our sport I would've thought, but he still seems to cop as much, if not more flack, from some, than the wife beaters, criminals, rapists, drug cheats and degenerate scumbags.

I have never taken to either on a personal level, but they are both proper exciting fighters, esp Froch, I'm just hoping for a great fight.

I would proffer the opinion that Kessler's wide-eyed, kindly & ingenuous nature probably had vast amounts to do with that. He's always struck me as the sort of bloke it would literally be impossible to pick a fight with outside the ring; you'd probably end up crying your eyes out with his arm around you whilst he listened with grave patience about how your dad's never really expressed his love for you.

I'm assuming that one gets a sort of contact high off the Dane's presence, & walks around for about a week afterward with little old ladies gazing wistfully after you in the street & making comments along the lines of "If only I were 40 years younger!", in the minutes when packs of savage dogs weren't whimpering at your presence then coming up to lick your hand, tails wagging.
