And while I'm on Forrest, he did beat Mosley in the amateurs(as well as pros, of course). Kelson Pinto beat Miguel Cotto.

Ok, well what a shiitty contribution, I'm no historian on these matters :lol:
I remembered thinking it was interesting that Pinto beat Cotto as an amateur and Cotto beat him with ease as a Professional.

Whereas Cotto beat Ricardo Torres as an amateur, and then had absolute hell with him in the Pros. He still won, but it was probably one of Miguel's hardest fought victories.

EDIT: Yes, I'm also aware how stupid the "when he was two years younger" line sounded, in retrospect, he always would have been :lol: What I meant was that Tszyu was particularly young, 16 or so at the time.
Tszyu beat Forrest in 1991.It was final in World Championship in.Sydney

Does anyone know of any copies floating around of Alex Miroshnichenko's pro bouts? I'd love to see them. I know he went undefeated until he lost to Oleg Maskaev (in Maskaev's debut) ... and then he was rumored to have been killed by the Russian mob.

I wish there was more footage of Igor - like his beat down of Stevenson before the 1976 Olympics.

* Michael Moorer 1987 USA vs. Germany
* Chris Byrd 1992 USA vs. Germany
* Juan Carlos Gomez (1994)
* Antonio Tarver 1994 USA vs. Germany
* Zsolt Erdei 1996 European Championships

I never liked Sven Ottke as I seen him benefit from biased judging and refereeing a few times..but he has had some career in boxing. Did he earn well? Is he in good health?

......why not just call it a TKO like the Pro's?

I don't expect you to have an answer to that question, just rhetorical. Thanks for answering my question.
Sometimes called RSF (ref stops fight) as well

I'd not come across this guy before, so I looked up his record. 21 fights, and his best wins were Ross Purrity (in his 5th fight), and the ghost of Ricky Parkey?? His handlers didn't have a lot of confidence in him; he makes Tyson Fury's record look like Mike Tysons! I guess losing to Maskaev on the latter's debut was always on the cards.

Maybe so....but nothing like the slaughter he took at the hands of the guys who beat him up and took his bicycle.

If only you could have witnessed that...you have lent a hand!

That last one can't possibly be right. In 1979 Ray Leonard was in the 3rd year of his Professional career, he had 9 fights that year, and closed out the year winning his first major title over Wilfred Benitez.

National AAU Championships {Finals}

63.5 {Kg} ~ 139 lb. Light-Welterweight
Randy Shields {Dec} Ray Leonard

Randy Shields {133 lbs.} defeated Ray Leonard {138 lbs.} by a 5-0 Decision

Randy {Age 17 years, 5 months} was able to out-punch Ray {Age 16 years, 11 months} in toe-to-toe exchanges
during the first 2-Rounds, by using his longer reach and outside right upper-cuts.

Early in Round 3, Randy landed a right uppercut from the outside that dropped Ray to his knee's. Ray got up and fought
back hard, but was out-manned by the taller Californian over the second-half of the bout.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

81 Kg ~ 178 lbs. Light-Heavyweight
D.C. Barker {KO 1} Leon Spinks

D.C. Barker, a hard-banging 178 lb. fighter from Denver, Colorado was also the 1973 National Golden Gloves Champion.

Leon {Age; 19 years, 10 months} came out winging in the 1st-Round, and was able to rattle "D.C" with a left-hook, and
follow up flurry.

But "D.C." remained cool, and started to counter Leon with right-hands after the mid-way point in Round 1. Then in a flash,
"D.C" caught Leon with a 'right-left' to the chin, and had him in all sorts of trouble.

"D.C" then calmy set Leon up for the 'Suzie Q', and dropped in a right-hand flush on the chin......... KO @ 2:20 of Round 1.
Wow! Thought Leonard was only dropped once as an amateur.
