Freddie Roach once trained De La Hoya and saw him sparring with the late Edwin Valero and the story goes that Valero beat Oscar up a little bit and Roach saw there that he cannot deal with southpaws very well. So later he sent Pacquiao, another southpaw, to war with Oscar.

Seldon is a guy I'd imagine would be murder in the gym. Fast, hard punching, and his biggest weaknesses (chin and stamina) don't show up much in 3-4 round sparring sessions with head gear and 16 ounce gloves.

Danny Williams very publicly claimed to have knocked Herbie Hide out in sparring. Needless to say Hide was not best pleased.

They were all due to settle it in the ring but Hide got a terrible cut in a keep busy fight so it had to be postponed and then Williams ended up being offered the shot at Tyson.

He mention's that early into training at the camp at Orwell Ohio
when he was preparing to fight Peter McNeeley.
He sparred with a young amateur who hurt him with punches.
The punches hurt so much ,Mike Tyson was concerned he would be knocked out.
So he had his trainer stop the scheduled 5 rounds of sparring
after the second round.
Tyson saying"THat's enough for today,we will begin again tomorrow".
However he did not disclose the name of the"Young Amateur"
in his book.

According to Bruce, both he and Ray got into a 'rough-exchange'. Bruce was backed to the Ropes, and as Ray
leaned in to throw a punch, Bruce countered with a fast 'right-to-the-chops'.

Ray fell by Bruce, and thru the Ropes and was dangling over the middle-strand. He then fell upon the Ring Apron,
and was 'out'.

Wonder if this was before, or after the February 15, 1982 fight.

Yes, there are big stage fighters and there are gym fighters. Not many boxers held their nerve and boxed to their best on a big stage as Leonard.

Accorsing to > Bruce Finch

It was in March of 1980.

Ray Leonard was training for his 1st Title Defense against Davey 'Boy' Green set for March 31, 1980
in Landover, Maryland.

Bruce Finch, who had a record of 21-3-1 {14 KO's} had a style similar to Davey 'Boy' Green, was summoned
from Chicago, Illinois.

Bruce had gone thru '2' earlier sessions with Ray.

On the 3rd-Day, Bruce was in the Ring again with Ray.

It was in the 2nd-Round, and I was asked to attack Ray aggressively, which I did. I backed him up, and threw about
a 'dozen' punches while he covered up on the Ropes. Ray then waited, and countered me with a hard 'right-left'.

I was stung, and backed up all the way across the Ring. Ray then moved in, as I reached the Ropes with my back. Ray
threw a 'left-right', and was about to load up to throw another 'one-two'.

He dropped his left-hand, and I bounced out with a right-hand 'square-on-the-chops' as he was moving forward.

He then fell forward to the left-side of me, and he fell through the middle Rope strand, and was dangling over the Ropes.

He was 'suspended' on the Rope for about 2-Seconds, then fell out and upon the Ring Apron. He was 'Knocked-Out'.

Whilst training for the Hagler fight Sugar Ray Leonard was beaten up in sparring by Quincy Taylor. Described as a sad sight Taylor landed numerous unanswered jabs, made Leonard miss and bullied him about.
