You get enough bother confined to the concourses where the bars are - at the Sheffield Arena to (Motorpoint) they were freely taking pints back to their seats and there were half a dozen kick-offs just in my vicinity. A complete joke.

They sell beer because they make shed-loads of money from it. How many people would buy ten pints of coke rather than lager?

Froch-Groves was actually one of the best behaved big shows I have ever been too!

I didn't mean to single out boxing, but its the culture of a high percentage of individuals in this country that annoy me. It doesn't help that it gets glamorised. Football violence for example, about 1/3 of the books in the football section of my local Waterstones seem to relate to the subject, why should we allow scumbags like Cass Pennant to make money writing books about it.

The last part kind of cements it for me though. IF they had events on at 11pm. It's not that far fetched to be fair though to think that if you've got a lot of tanked up young, testosterone filled men watching a sport that involves violence by its very nature that you're going to have a lot of fights kicking off.

It's not even sport. Go to any town centre on a weekend late on and there will be fights. It's drink and young men. Even parties at someone's house usually have a punch up.

There are some real arseholes any place there is a crowd, they are in the minority but when you throw in tribal allegiance and beer the numbers swell. 'Pikey' is not a nice term and it's only in fashion because of of the Guy Richie films, it'll be as unacceptable as 'paki' or 'person' in 20 years.

Paki is simply a short version of Pakistani. Same as Brit is short for British. I don't see how it is classed as racist, although I do appreciate that people seem to judge it that way.

It's used as an offensive term by the people saying it, hence it's evolved into an offensive term.

If you tried calling a large group of asian lads that, they wouldn't react too kindly I can assure you!

I'm of Indian descent and sadly I've lost count of the number of times idiots have directed the word "Paki" at me, purely in a way intended to cause offence and usually accompanied by some other unsavoury insults.

It only happened when living up north (Lancashire/Greater Manchester) mind. Hasn't happened once since moving to London or when I was living in Portsmouth.

Put 100 people in a room smoking weed and 100 drinking ale and I think we all know where the trouble would start. However, I'll wager the guy with a spliff wasn't a pot head, more likely a "lad" flexing his ladishness by showing he can do what he wants.

Late reply but only just seen this. This is exactly the problem these days more than ever. I know so many people that would rather be seen to be a 'LAD' than seen to be successful! And they'll jump on any bandwagon going just to be cool!

Easier to segregate people there though and people at rugby and cricket aren't usually the type to kick off, they're different sorts of things, a lot less tribal than football and to an extent boxing can be.

Ive seen trouble at all sorts of events, not just boxing but the worst ones I have seen have been at boxing shows. One night in the Kelvin Hall I witnessed a pretty bad scrap in the stand. There were families actually having to jump off the stand down onto floor level to escape it. Its a couple of metres of a drop aswell not as if its just a fence. Also seen trouble at a few Burns defences in Glasgow. A young guy took a beating just a bit away from me but to be honest he done everything in his power to get a reaction from people then i dare say he quickly regretted it.

Biggest shows I have been to in the UK were Calzaghe v Manfredo & Hatton v Lazcano and never seen any trouble at either although that doesnt mean that it never happened!
