Groves Sparring

Post by chrisbonnie »

Does anybody know who George has been sparring for this upcoming fight with Carl Froch?

Don't know the lad personally, but I saw a post from a lad sparring Froch which said that said Froch is looking sharper than before the first. I think Froch will finish him between 8-12

Groves has kept all his training very in house.

No news on any overseas camps or sparring partners at all.

To the untrained eye it looks as if he has been doing too much media work and not enough gym work but who knows.

Know it's about groves but just as an aside I dropped on rob McCracken at institute of sport Monday and had a little chat, just said Froch was the best he'd ever been in training etc, which is what you'd expect and also got to have a pike at Froch on the bag with me lad for a couple of minutes :TU:

I got a message from a mate who is connected to the Groves camp and said he is on form and looking sharp. Didn't give anymore than that away but he would say if the camp/sparring had not been good.

That's nice of him, McCracken seems a decent sort. He did say similar things about the training before the last bout.

I know but had 5 mins with him and he seemed suprised I could remember him stiffening an Eastern European for England on sports night. Always seems a bit stern and dour but was quite nice. Funny thing with my lads despite a lifetime involved myself it don't bother them, so I shows my lad Froch caning the bag and he says " he can't have done loads of fights...his nose is massive!" And with that we left while we still could :OhYes:

He was interviewed on Soccer AM yesterday, at the end of the interview he does a promo for the fight and sneakily throws in that number 6 is an important number, its about 9:30m on this clip: http://www.bbc.com/weather/2643818

If you fancy Groves to win by KO, putting a few quid on a sixth round stoppage might be worth a punt :OhYes:

I think he says these things purely to make Carl think and put doubt in his mind.

X2 if he can get a win in 30 seconds he'll grab it. He's on about number 6 because Froch took some hammer that round last time and was unhappy when he went to his corner.

Has Anyone Ever Seen Paddy Fitzsimmons.....

.....without his hat on?

On a more serious note does anyone know anything about the bloke? I only know of him through his association with George.

Froch Groves Merchandise

Anyone have a link to any sites flogging the stuff? One of my mates who's going is going to get me a hat/cap. Want to make sure it's not dodgy.

Fitzpatrick.

Although I know Boxing Monthly had an interview last month and that called him Fitzgerald all the way through.

The only other time I had seen him was when he was training Laila Ali and I'm pretty sure he was wearing the hat then too.

Here you go:
Paddy Fitzpatrick’s boxing resume reads like a who’s who of the pugilist world. Involved in boxing now for over 25 years, Irishman Fitzpatrick has worked alongside some of the leading fi ghters and trainers the sport has to offer.

Paddy got a major break in 1997 when fi rst meeting Hall Of Fame trainer Freddie Roach in Jersey (Channel Islands). Roach was training Irishman Steve Collins at the time and Paddy made an immediate impression on the legendary trainer. Paddy was invited back to America to work with Roach at his illustrious Wild Card Gym, and it was the start of a US residency, which saw Paddy learn from some of the world’s best.

Keen to make a go of things Stateside, Paddy spent most of his time in America divided between Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Atlanta and Florida, working in all the best gyms available. Whether it be training, conditioning or providing nutritional advice, Paddy quickly created a reputation within the boxing industry as a man you want on your side.

Over the years Paddy has trained the likes of Laila Ali, Justin Juuko, Kid Diamond, William Guthrie, Michael Grant, Virgil Hill and Lucia Rijker. He has shared many stints working alongside trainers such as Freddie Roach and James ‘Buddy’ McGirt, and has seen and experienced most that goes on inside and outside the boxing ring.

Now back in Britain, Paddy remains one of the most sought-after and astute trainers in the world boxing and currently trains and manages former Commonwealth Gold Medalist Jamie Cox from the Boxing Academy gym in Swindon.

Cheers Law.

Blimey, Kid Diamond. There's a blast from the (recent) past. Wonder what happened to him. I know he lost to DeMarco but then...nothing.
