It seems clear Liston was losing the fight regardless of what the official scores were.

I had never heard this before. One judge had it even and another had Liston ahead? Wow. Talk about bad scoring. I'm willing to bet that Liston's sore shoulder wouldn't been so sore if he knew this.
Liston may have fought better overall competition than Bowe, but does this really matter that much in this case? I mean, does anyone really think that Bowe would have lost to anyone that Liston beat? Would Patterson, Williams,Folley, or Machen have beaten Bowe? Hard to imagine that happening.
On the other hand, could Holyfield have beaten Liston? Quite possibly. Certainly a better chance of that happening than Bowe losing to anyone that Liston beat.
I'm not saying that Bowe would definetely win, but he would certainly have a serious chance against Liston.

Bowe at his best should beat all of them but that's 4 contenders so my bet would be that Bowe came in for at leats one of thsoe unprepared. Bowe was a good heavyweight it's a shame he let his career go the way he did.Ambling Alp wrote:I had never heard this before. One judge had it even and another had Liston ahead? Wow.
