He's unlikely to score a stoppage due to his lack of power and I think Andrade's a bad opponent for him stylistically. Rose's best wins were over Maciel and Arron, and both of them were rather slow, clumsy, and defensively flawed. I think those are the type of weaknesses that Rose's neat boxing exploits particularly well, but he won't find them against Andrade; he'll find someone who is probably a bit faster, punches harder, can box from the outside or fight skillfully inside, has a decent workrate, and seemingly good stamina. Because of this and possibly the fact that he's the away fighter, I think Rose will have to fight nearly perfect fight to win while Andrade won't require such a performance to retain his title.
Plenty of sense in what you are saying,

Brians win over Arron was technically brilliant and game plan executed to perfection. Agreed Maciel win wasn't as clear cut ut he dug out a win against a very tough durable fighter proven at world level. If Brian stands in front of him with his guard up taking punches he will probably get stopped late on. Brian will have a game plan to try to take Andrade out of his comfort zone early on. They both have a similar amateur pedigree and Brian is proven at championship level more than Andrade. Think Brian has done the 12 rounds 6 times to Andrades once. If he lets Andrade dictate the fight he will lose, If he puts it on him in bursts, eye catching stiff jabs and 3/4 punch combos, on the front foot at times back Andrade up when possible I think he has a chance of nicking it on points.

Andrade has tendancies to smother his work by jumping in. If Brian can stay on the outside and counter him with combos keeping him at range and using his cute skills for 12 rounds he can win this fight on points.

You will see the best Brian on Saturday, he will have no excuses if he is beat. I am biased but i genuinely do believe he can in. he is technically very good and I always said he will be a fight for anybody in the division who wants to stand and try to outbox him.

He is totally up against it but I believe in him and his ability and so do the 500 strong army heading over to NYC this weekend.

More Rose fans than Andrade fans probably in the Barclays Center. :OhYes:

As pointed out earlier in the thread, it's a massive shame that Sky aren't making any effort to promte this fight, the casual viewer probably has no idea it's even on.

Obviously not every fight will get the Froch/Groves treatment, but the Rose fight has barely even been mentioned on Sky Sports News. A British boxer challenging for a world title is surely deserving of a decent bit of coverage?

Very hard ask for Rose, but training seems to of gone well and he looks in good shape.
Speed will probably be the main difference between them, Andrade is athletic and uses the ring well, Rose doesn't want to just be following him around getting picked off. Andrade has fast hands, and also a southpaw, the left hand comes in quick and stopped a few with it.

Rose will be there to win, but i can't see much else then a Andrade stoppage around the 8th

I dunno, I think Rose might be able to make it a little more competitive than that fight but time will tell.

Fair play taking 500 out there for it - credit for that! Should give him some decent backing

Hope he can do it, like said earlier is a shame there hasn't been much hype for this.

Is there really 500 going? People from that town have a nasty habit of lying when it comes to away support, mainly in football, but 500 seems a lot for a fighter who isn't a big draw, don't think Froch took that many out for the Ward fight and he's a far bigger draw than Rose.

Ill find out exact after the weekend but Brian has great following between Blackpool and Manchester and i believe there is approx 500 making the journey to NYC for the weekend.

That shouldent be hard, all he need to do is throw a punch. Purdy was a walking punch bag vs alexander.

I am amazed at the lack of exposure being given to this fight. Sky are picking the fight up and I have not seen 1 single advert or promo for the fight. Pretty piss poor showing from Sky really.

As for Rose, good luck to him I say. Seems a top bloke, so I for one will be shouting at the TV and hoping he can pull a shock result.

One shining light for Rose is that ive never seen him disheartened,he could sometimes start slow and i feel he might get beat(Alcine and Maciel) but he does come on strong, great fighting heart which is the best thing you can have really

It's not on PPV and Rose is unlikely to ever be a PPV calibre fighter. I guess that explains Sky's apathy ?

Andrade is decent but he is definitely beatable.

He can be panicked and he tends to grab, than work and he also goes on the run sometimes. Vanes Martirosyan dropped him last time out. Brian isn't a Ko artist but Andrade will still be cautious after his last one.

He does use range well though and no doubt he's skillfull.

He's the favourite for many reasons but Rose is capable and he is really going to go for it I'd imagine.

Rose showed great tenacity against Maciel and whilst it's not a skill, it's definitely a big strength.

Good luck Brian !

I wish him all the best,

I was going to say "Jennings vs Cotto", or "Rees vs Broner" - might be better analogies, but Andrade doesn't have the standing of the three champions at this current time.... but then on the flip side I don't think Rose has the same standing as Jennings or Rees.

Have to say, from what I've seen he does look a level above Rose (sorry) and also sorry to say being mandatory for the title doesn't necessarily mean a competitive fight automatically - as Jennings vs Cotto showed.

Hope he proves me wrong though.

Jennings wasn't ranked no1 with the WBO it was for a vacant title. He could have been ranked 4,5 or 6 and still got the nod over other fighters due to fighters commitments.

This will be nothing like jennings - cot to or rees - broner. you have my word.

Cotto was 1, Jennings was 2, a month earlier Mosley was at 2, but he was fighting for the WBA belt so Jennings was moved up, it was a vacant title, but if Cotto had the belt Jennings would have been mandatory. It will go further than 5 rounds, but I really don't see Rose winning, nice payday for him, but it's going to be a long, painful night for him, Andrade's simply a class or two above and that will show on the night.

Wasn't Gary Lockett mandatory for Pavlik also? Although I do think Rose has done more to warrant a shot than Lockett has done.
