New regional title

WBA Oceania
Ring official Derek Milham (Australia) and Francisco Martinez (New Zealand) presented a new WBA affiliated regional body covering the Oceania region called the WBAO.
Key staffers include:
President: Francisco Martinez
Secretary: Derek Milham
Vice President: Ferlin Marsh
Vice President: Cyril Cairns
Legal Counsel: Damon Locantro
Countries included under the WBAO include Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, New Caledonia, Samoa, Papua New Guinea, Tahiti, Tonga and Polynesia. The first WBAO title fight will be at super welterweight with Dennis Hogan (20-0) vs. Steve Moxon (5-0) in Melbourne, Australia on July 6th.

Just what boxing need another b/s title, just to many. In all honesty there is more credit in winning a state title, that these b/s titles. :zzz:

If this is like the PABA or IBF Australasian championship, then other "Oceania" countries will include Nigeria, Argentina, Greenland, Diego Garcia, etc.

What a night, what a crowd, what a bout. Cameron ‘The Hammer’ Hammond impressed his local supporters and U.K promoter Ricky Hatton in a tough 10 rounder. From the opening bell the Argentinian showed he would be hard to tag and, although Hammond was in control, it took him a couple of rounds to find his mark. Hammond was rarely troubled as he secured a unanimous points decision. Spirited toe-to-toe exchanges raised the roof of the old town hall. Alfredo Blanco did his country proud as did Hammond who as set his presence on the international scene.

WBA Oceania champs Hogan is now WBA #12 and Hammond #15
and PABA's chief Mr Yang Sup Shim is now WBA Oceania's honorary president :lol:
