Where did you hear this about sparring? That is a big gap in weight......

GGG might've handled Kovalev and I've seen that suggestion before, but it's hard to take many sparring claims seriously; when documentation isn't available it's very easy to spread misinformation.

GGG is a beast but so is Kovalev, and factoring in the size difference I doubt that GGG gave him a hiding.

GGG does look incredibly well schooled, but we simply have to wait and see him fight a top man. I wouldn't want it for Froch, no point, he's done well enough out of the Groves rematch. Take fights on your own terms.

No doubt in my mind, Froch would take a huge brutal beating before being Stopped. I am a massive Froch fan, but Golovkin is something else. He's not just a banger either, he can box.

I don't think he has Jackson's one-punch power (nor numerous others'), and he is beatable (he's susceptible to multiple shots on his rare retreats*), but his body shots are a threat to everyone. I reckon that Froch could take most of his head shots, but not too many to the body. And that's what's really scary about Golovkin: his power endurance. Lots of middleweights can and could punch as hard as him, but he's in extremely select company for volume of power shots.

He reminds me of Quartey in the way he confidently stalks his opponents behind his guard, and I can only see him losing to incredibly slick fighters, or tough guys with great defences. It's a shame he wasn't around 12-15 years ago.

*Froch could - and I'm sure would - push Golovkin back, but I don't think he's the man for the job beyond that. He doesn't have the speed to throw single shots safely, and he'd need to spoil on the inside to get his uppercuts and hooks going. An attrition win's possible, but I'd favour Golovkin at this point in Froch's career.

Doers Golovkin really hit that much harder than Groves or Kessler? I doubt it, those two can really whack as well.

Froch is leagues above anyone that Golovkin has boxed to date. You simply can't compare Mathew Matkline and Danny Greaves to Carl Froch. I think Froch would get the victory here. The onyl one that I think Froch will have difficulty is Ward (I'd like to see a rematch in this country though).

I doubt Golovkin's people would take a Froch fight.

I think you underestimate Golovkin's power...

Who are Mathew Matkline and Danny Greaves??

That doesn't surprise me. Golovkin is so avoided, he will take the fights he is offered. I presume he thinks he will knock everyone out anyway!

That is of course as long as he isn't offered mug money by guys who don't want the fight, so offer him such an insulting contract he bails

To suggest Froch is scared of anyone is pretty poor form. He may be arrogant but he's one tough muther who'll fight anyone.

One of the most durable guys I've ever seen was Librado Andrade; you could bounce hard shots of him all night and he'd keep trundling forward.

Bute managed to crumple him with a vicious bodyshot in their rematch; I remember when he landed that same shot on Froch and he just laughed. One tough, tough man.

macklin and geale, apologies.

I think you are over-estimating Golovkin's power somewhat. When he takes out someone the level of Abraham or Kessler then I will accept that he hits harder than them. It's time he boxed someone that level. Geale was a step in the right direction. I am not saying that he is not good, he undoubtedly is, but we don't know what he is like until he is in with the very best.

That's exciting news. This fight will have more chance of coming off than Chavez. My conern over the Chazev fight is that Froch trains and trains for it and then Chavez doesn't bother or falls out with a promoter or something and the fight gets scrapped.
