It's a fornicate-awful opponent, to be fair.
Re: Scott Quigg's next opponent.....
Hearn is doing exactly what warren did with burns. Great for the fighter getting defences in against absoulte no hopers who have no right fighting for a world title let along winning but horrific fights for the fans. Also giving the promise that the next fight will be a big (frampton, santa cruz, martinez) but it never is!! Don't worry I am sure hearn will say his NEXT fight will be big one!
On a side note does sky have quality controll? Does anyone at sky have the power to say "no hearn that's a shit fight try again we are not putting that on tv"?........as for crolla his opponent went from lundy which would have been a great fight to some guy with 13 loses??? Should have thrown him in with commey.

Again Idon't know why people get up in arma a promoter job is to put their fighter in the best shape without the least amount of risk if his team wants to be called a bogus champ well we know the truth. I blame Sky for allow this. Quigg and his team is doing what they do if turn out and support its our fault for accepting. Also shame on sky.

Quigg is mando for the winner of Kiko v Frampton. I didn't know that.

I agree with what you say for Ambunda but...you're WAY off with Diaz and quoting his losses proves it. Yes Lundy would have been a MUCH better opponent but Diaz is not a bad fighter at all and unlike British fighters he has losses because he regularly fights contender types.rio wrote:Hearn is doing exactly what warren did with burns. Of Diaz's 13 losses 5 came in his first 8 bouts. Many of the other 8 have come against TOP fighters in the form of Robert Guerrero, Jorge Linares, Humberto Soto and Takashi Miura. How do you think any Brits would have copes with those 4?
That's whilst also ignoring that Diaz has beaten Guerrero, Elio Rojas and Takahiro Ao.
Records are for DJ's yet so many folk seem to use them to rate fighters, ah well I guess Orlando Salido is a bit shit...
Re: Scott Quigg's next opponent.....
Thats why these opponents keep coming for Quigg, it is just to ensure the unification does not get derailed if/when Frampton beats Martinez.DMA1987 wrote:Quigg is mando for the winner of Kiko v Frampton. I didn't know that.
Huge fight for these shores and they don't want anything to much it up IMO

Diaz ain't all that mate. Getting bounced around like a basketball by everyone who's ever held a belt from feather to super-feather (admittedly by very good fighters, mind) doesn't exactly fill me with confidence that he'll do well at lightweight.Boxing Prospect wrote: I agree with what you say for Ambunda but...you're WAY off with Diaz and quoting his losses proves it. & how many of those fighters you listed managed to stop him? How much accumulated punishment has the boy taken? He was blocking shots with his face vs Linares, six (seven?) years ago at featherweight. How many times has he been dropped, again? I can remember... Nine, off the top of my head, & that's just in fights I have seen him, thank you very much.
Lundy's a far superior opponent, far less shopworn, much bigger & far more dangerous. Whilst Diaz is a gallant old warhorse who'll come in & try, he ain't got a hope in hell here.

How can he be the mando and he has an interim title with the WBA. Sansaction bodies don't rank other bodies champs, interin or other wise.GlobalBox wrote:Thats why these opponents keep coming for Quigg, it is just to ensure the unification does not get derailed if/when Frampton beats Martinez.DMA1987 wrote:Quigg is mando for the winner of Kiko v Frampton. Diaz ain't all that but neither is Crolla who's best wins have come at British level. Also seems that it was Gallagher and not Hearn who wanted none of Lundy, the fingers can't be pointed at the promoter when a guys trainer doesn't want him in too tough.Datsue wrote:Diaz ain't all that mate. Of the fighters who stopped him Guerrero did (6), Linares did (8), Soto did (11), Miura did (9) and Jardon did (8). Sure that's accumulative damage but it's world class experience and allows Crolla a direct (albeit suspect) comparison to Linares (a fellow contender at 135lbs).
We'd all rather see Lundy, of course we would, but as a fighter Diaz isn't a terrible foe and even when he's been getting stopped he's been taking HARD hitting guys into the later rounds. I can't imagine Crolla lasting 9 with Miura or 11 with Soto personally.

Re: Scott Quigg's next opponent.....
Fair enough. It's just defending the match too strongly to me smacks a bit too much of the "Oh look, he's fought in world class" party line, when what they neglect to add is "...& is much, much physically smaller & has seen far, far better days."Boxing Prospect wrote:Diaz ain't all that but neither is Crolla who's best wins have come at British level. I'm firmly of the belief that Frampton would whoop Quiggs arse. I dont know how others feel on that particular potential matchup?

Re: Scott Quigg's next opponent.....
Whenever I see Frampton fight, I think he would beat Quigg. Whenever I see Quigg fight, I think he would beat Frampton. In an ideal world we wouldn't just get to see them fight, we'd get two or three. If they fought three times I could see it being 2-1 rather than three nil. They are both razor sharp operators, its the match up I would most like to see involving British fighters.columbo wrote:I'm firmly of the belief that Frampton would whoop Quiggs arse. Re: Scott Quigg's next opponent.....
Yeah you make some very good points there. I was doing Quigg a disservice using the arse whooping expression. I think Frampton would get the better of it though. I think he has the better mobility of the two which is part of why I feel that way. He looks more fluid as a boxer to me whereas Quigg has a bit of the Anthony Joshua slightly robotic kind of style to me.JimJim2009 wrote:Whenever I see Frampton fight, I think he would beat Quigg. WBA issues their updated rankings recently and...no Ambunda
http://www.wbanews.com/wp-content/uploa ... 4-july.pdf
Oddly Arenas is #11.
Hopefully someone manages to rip the WBA a new one for this and see if they refuse to sanction it...
Also odd that Walter Tello jumped from #14 at 105 last month to #6 at 108lbs this month...just before he fights Randy Petalcorin. At least they used to hide the grease palming a little bit...
