Re: Billy Joe Saunders v Eubank Jnr
Eubank does have the toughest fight of his career thus far scheduled just a month before this projected bout with Billy Joe.
I wonder if the bout with Jez Wilson will be scrapped now. I personally would like to see the fight still go ahead as Jez can punch a bit and was in a good scrap with The Gorilla. As such it would be a good measuring stick to see how he can deal with Wilson compared to the Gorilla, who did everything but beat Saunders.

I think so. You're asking for trouble by allowing that fight to go ahead. It'll be scrapped.black panther wrote:Eubank does have the toughest fight of his career thus far scheduled just a month before this projected bout with Billy Joe.

Why all the votes for Eubank via KO? Have I missed something? i don't recall ever seeing BJS in any serious bother, his chin seems sound enough and Eubank Jnr hasn't exactly left his comparatively poor opposition twitching on the canvas. I can't see beyond BJS winning a competitive but clear decision.

I thought was in some trouble against Ryder and Blackwell.binipop wrote:Why all the votes for Eubank via KO? Re: Billy Joe Saunders v Eubank Jnr
I thought he looked a bit weary in the last round against Ryder but I can't recall him being in trouble against Blackwell. When was that?
The opponents Eubank has looked explosive against were not only mediocre fighters, they have a history of being stopped, and someone who I would consider a legitimate puncher in David Lemieux halted Robert Swierzbinski in 2 minutes when it took Eubank 7 rounds. If people are convinced that he's a puncher based on recent efforts, perhaps more boxers should be facing such a level of opposition to enhance the public perception of their power and therefore marketability. That's not to say that he doesn't have genuine power, but he's fought the type of opposition that one could impressively stop without being a particularly hard puncher.

Re: Billy Joe Saunders v Eubank Jnr
for me saunders takes this one and by k.o.
Eubank is unproven and hasnt fought anyone of high class, but saying that you can only beat what is put infront of u and he has done that in style so far.
I will be backing saunders k.o. last 6. I feel after a tough first few opening rounds saunders will start to bang in the big shots and eventual eubank will get stopped on his feet.
To be honest tho like allot of other people i wouldnt be surprised if this fight doesnt happen. infact id say there is more chance of it not happening than actually happening. Hope im wrong

Re: Billy Joe Saunders v Eubank Jnr
I don't see it being in any way lucrative. Most of the money from the show will go to Chisora and Fury. And it's hardly like the pot is going to be overflowing - zero UK TV money, a little bit from abroad for the heavies, ticket sales (rumours of them not exactly flying off the shelves), sponsorship and merchandise.Coco wrote:Yeah but it should be a lucrative yet straightforward first defence, stuff dreams are made of, if they brought in an unknown eastern euro it would be for chump change.JimJim2009 wrote:Eubank's dad talked and bluffed his way into a WBO title fight with Nigel Benn and the rest is history. Chris did not contest the British, Commonwealth or European titles along the way, he just picked up a minor international title and faced hand-picked opposition. It was the hype, controversy and rivalry which made the fight happen. Benn was the big favourite and nobody knew how good Eubank was beforehand. It was a massive gamble.
Eubank jnr has admittedly faced worse competition than his dad had at that point. It is a calculated gamble, I imagine their confidence is based upon how well he's done in sparring with top fighters.
If this goes wrong for BJS it'll be one of the worst own goals for a British fighter in a long time. As a fan, I want to see this fight, but from the point of view of his career, this is all wrong for Saunders. If he wins, so what, he has exposed a hype job. He has everything to lose. I dunno what his contract status with Fwank is but if this goes wrong I can see him with Matchroom in 2015. He should be fighting for a world title, not facing Eubank jnr.

Re: Billy Joe Saunders v Eubank Jnr
I am not raising my hopes about seeing any of this bill. I can see the whole thing being scrapped. I was very surprised when I saw Fury v Chisora was back on again and my first thought was, if it happens. Saunders v Eubank really isn't likely to happen either so I am taking this bill with a giant pinch of salt.
Eubank Jnr IMO is not ready to take on the likes of Saunders. I think he would give Saunders a hard fight but I don't see him winning.

It seems the venue isn't that convinced about things either - no mention of the card on the Excel London website!WildWaylon wrote:I am not raising my hopes about seeing any of this bill. Re: Billy Joe Saunders v Eubank Jnr
In a way, Eubank Jnr has already won - in terms of the enhancement to his profile, I mean. If the fight doesn't go ahead he has gained in other ways. I imagine him and his dad will be absolutely delighted at the coverage that has come from the announcement of this fight.
What I would love to know about is the finer details of the contract. I doubt the Eubanks will want to sign away their future with options to the promoter. If Eubank wins, he is poised to make a fortune and I suspect his next fight would be on Sky (providing he can choose). And not for one single second will Fwank want to let Eubank have the opportunity of beating BJS, taking the European title, the high WBO ranking, knackering 5 years of work building Saunders, and walk away from the mess left behind to go make his fame and fortune on Sky.

Re: Billy Joe Saunders v Eubank Jnr
Eubank KO, Saunders has never really looked impressive and if you read the shite he spouts on twitter and in some of his interviews he's a bigger twat than Eubank Jr.
Re: Billy Joe Saunders v Eubank Jnr
Just saw a small interview Eubank Jnr did in Vegas recently, says his plan is to fight for a world title within the next 12 months.
Re: Billy Joe Saunders v Eubank Jnr
And so it begins. allegedly have said Eubank not yet signed the contract and has until 5pm.
Why the hell was this fight announced then?.

Imo it was announced to help shift tickets for the show!! I still hope it happens but I don't like the fact that people might have bought tickets for this fight but it was never actually on the bill. I wonder if you can get refunds if this fight doesn't happen.
Re: Billy Joe Saunders v Eubank Jnr
Surely the board can do something about a situation like this. Out of order as a lot of people prefer this fight to the fury fightDavid McAllister wrote:Josh1111 wrote:And so it begins. allegedly have said Eubank not yet signed the contract and has until 5pm.

They were tweeting it was happening and BJS and Eubank Jnr are in the posters.
Soooooo predictable
Re: Billy Joe Saunders v Eubank Jnr
This fight was announced as done and on the card.
If this "Eubank hasn't signed the contract" is all true, its outrageous.

I got 10 tickets off the back of this fight happening!
