You are joking ? Seems your the only person in the venue that thought that then mate.
Ronnie never hurt Troy at all, Troy took his foot off the gas the last 2 rounds cuz he was a good bit ahead, and other than maybe the 5th Ronnie didn't win a round, although he kept trying, he was just too slow and hitting fresh air a lot Troy out boxed him for 95% of the fight and pushed him back at ease when he wanted. The plan was to show Troy can box aswell has punch. It was a great fight and nothing but respect for Ronnie who most definitely can & will come again, he's a top lad.

This opinion is not just mine, for those that may think I'm being biased, many people were also there including tommy gilmour (Ronnies manager) Dave coldwell, Jon Pegg, the list is endless, it was never a split decision, the 1st 2 scorecards were not fair off tbh, Fuk knows what the 3rd judge was watching  but for most in the venue Troy won by 3/4 rounds
If you score punched from hitting gloves then I agree.. Ronald hit with a lot of jabs throughout the fight.. You need to watch 9 and 10 again Troy was holding on.. The rounds were close Troy was the aggressor in the sense he held the centre of the ring but he was trying to counter.. I like clean punches fact is Ronnie hit far far more than Troy did.. Will say Ronnie got going far too late in the fight I had Ronnie winning 6 of the rounds.. 1 was close I liked Ronnie's cleaner work.. The atmosphere swayed the judges it was very close..

;;-) ok mate  that's your opinion, like I said, nothing but respect for Ronnie, he's a good kid, and will definitely come again, but he's body language at the end of the fight when I helped him with his cut didn't seem like he thought it was close at all, but hey, it's done now, Ronnie will come again and Troy thoroughly deserves to be made mandatory now and face the winner of Sykes Vs Walsh

Credit where credit is due.. Troy fought a way to win the fight and done extremely well but he was countering and not hitting with much.. Ronnie was hitting with single shots which is why the rounds were close.. Most of Troys shots hit gloves he had limited success whereas Ronnie's Jab was pinging Troys head back.. If Troy had went to war he would of lost that why Ronnie took the last 2 rounds clearly the most clear rounds in the fight.. You are right he deserves the shot because he stuck to a good game plan and got the decision.. The fight could if gone either way I think that's a fair reflection I have no complaints it's what the judges prefer.. Well done to everyone involved

Congratulations to troy and the team. I'll definitely be getting a ticket to the next fight.

spoke to a few people who were there and they were a bit shocked it was a SD. Said troy boxed really well.

The above seems to sum it up.

James boxed to a gameplan to win - and it worked (surely this is the objective?).

You seem to be taking away from his victory because he didn't march forward in a straight line so that Clarke could hit him.

Not at all I'm giving him credit for what he done... This is where boxing is subjective.. I prefer work rate Troy had that when he countered he tried to do so in combinations. There is a fine line between hitting gloves and scoring shots.. Again it's different from each side of the ring.. Troy wasn't hitting with a lot most was on the gloves and arms. Ronnie's work was cleaner a lot of clear shots.. Do I think Ronnie done enough No.. Fighting away from home you need to put a fight beyond doubt and he didn't do that.. If the fight was in Scotland I'm sure Ronnie would of got the decision. I think the purse bid won Troy this fight and neither fighter deserved to lose such a close fight. I would be saying the exact same if Ronnie got the decision.. I knew Troy was good had many a chat on here with Dean that he is very under rated.. He is actually better than I thought.. Tough tough guy some of the shots he took and stayed up was incredible not only stay up but fire back. The locals singing in your Glasgow slums haha.. We are from Dundee so decided to join in they didn't know what to do.. Ronnie's fans again done themself proud 25 out singing about 350 locals..

First things first, well done troy, he fought well and hopefully he goes on to win the title, was a good fight, deserving of the eliminator status and only a blip for ronnie, been a tough year and in my honest opinion it's what is needed, people can say what they want about him but I'll tell you one thing he isn't a quitter and will bounce back from it, my views on the fight were it was very close, I had round 4,5,9 and 10 dead cert ronnie, 1 was a feel out round, where I felt went wrong was ronnie was willing to take his shots and bravado with the home atmosphere he really lacked ezpierience of thinking the judge will be scoring the shots that were hitting the gloves, troy was small and when he stepped in and ronnie moved he was off balance in which the crowd were cheering when no shots landed, I am quite satisfied with judges and think although most I had in it was a round I wasn't at the different angles to see it, ronnie was laughing at troys punches and looked to finish him late , if dean says that troy wasn't gone 9 and 10 we will let you see footage but ronnie rocked him in 9, troy is one tough man and can take a shot and both deserve credit, troys family barring his gf were amazing people, we had a good conversation before and after the fight and nicer people you could not meet! Maybe in time once troy has had shot and whatever outcome wether Ronald works his way back up or they just happen to meet again we get it up in Scotland, well done both sets of fans created a good atmosphere although singing in your glasgow slums was only song they sung whole time ha, nobody even from glasgow Hha

Yh I agree with most of that mate, I had Troy wining the 4th but Ronnie deffo won 5, & big 9 & 10, but that's cuz Troy took foot off gas and didn't work really in last 2 has he felt he was a good bit ahead, which was a risky decision looking back considering the 1 judges scorecard.
we had 1 round even aswell, it should never of been a S/D, appalling from 3rd judge.
The 1st 2 judges were spot on 97-94 IMO

100% Troy was never hurt though at all through fight mate, I don't need to lie about that, I'd give Ronnie the credit if he did, Troy is exceptionally tough, Ronnie caught him with a ferrocious uppercut flush in the 5th and Troy didn't even blink, he just instantly fired back, I was quite surprised myself has it was a peach of a shot, people still haven't seen the best of Troy, he is very underrated and has more to offer than even shown last night.

Ronnie is a very tough kid himself, and it was a good competitive fight, which we knew it would be, I said at times I knew it would be nip & tuck, but knew Troys better movement, boxing & footwork along with his experience would allow him to out box Ronnie. The game plan was to show Troy's boxing ability has everyone already knows he can punch, and for our own reasons for him to show us he is capable of being more than a 1 trick pony (a punching brawler) which is needed when you move up in levels.

Ronnie never stopped trying to his credit, I liked Ronnie before the fight, his self belief & attitude and my respect for him has increased even more after the fight. He's a good lad and most definitely just a little set back but more importantly and on a more positive note, a learning experience that will help him later on in fights. You have to experience the feeling of losing to appreciate the feeling of winning. I have no doubt Ronnie can & will 100% come again.

We wish Ronnie & his team all the best for the future and thank him & his team & his great fans for contributing towards a great night and good fight.

That's the joys of boxing it's objectable this was one of those fights I had 1,4,5,9 and 10 as Ronnie's rounds 1 was close will all the other rounds very very close.. One round both hit with nothing.. I think the 6th or 7th Ronnie hit Troy with a body shot and he started grabbing.. He kept ducking below waist height the Howard Foster warned them both.. He should of been harsher on that as this went on right through the fight.. I seen Troy fight against Rhys Roberts and Terry Flannigan and this was a 100% a better performance than both they fights a far far better Troy James.. In saying that it's naive to say he outboxed Ronnie. He had a gameplan we weren't expecting.. He was genuinely better than any of us expected. Who outboxed who.. I think you will see on the video that Ronnie's boxing skills are better at times and Troys are better at times.. Ronnie was quicker and stronger than Troy. Troy was more clever with his work throwing more punches. Ducking low and putting Ronnie off balance..

I like Jamie have no complaints about the decision.. I spoke to 7 or 8 of Troys fans at the end of the fight and there opinion was very close they genuinely didn't know.. I looked straight in your corner after the fight and you weren't too sure either.. Both camps looked very unsure with the feeling in Ronnie's camp that he didn't do enough away from home. He started too late.. Troy never took his foot off the gas he was holding on to get through and hoping for the decision. I don't think we will ever agree as we are both a bit biased either way.. I look forward to seeing the DVD and scoring the fight without the crowd noise. No matter what good luck to Troy. I hope he now get his shot.. He does deserve it more than Ronnie. He showed a true warrior spirit in there. Hopefully if Ronnie gets back on track can get a rematch up here in Scotland.. Think we were noisy with 25 wait and see 200+ ..

Imo Troy deserved the win by a round and I was impressed at how patient Troy was even when Ronnie was catching him. I wish Troy the best in the future and I know that both parties would be very happy to do it again, hopefully for the British Title with television there to let others fans enjoy a great fight.

Thanks David, very honest classy response. Like I say we thought Troy was about 3 rounds ahead, without seeming biased, I know Tommy saw it the same afterwards too. It was a good, competitive fight, and would be worthy of TV coverage and for a title if to be done again, shame no coverage was there, but look forward to watching it when the footage goes up on YouTube, don't feel to bad though mate, your doing a great job with Ronnie, a couple more fights and Ronnie will be back, it's not the end only a set back. We wish you both all the best and keep up the good work.

You would think that Billy, you've never seen Troy fight Billy, you've only seen him has a featherweight sparring for a few days with Ricky about 4-5yrs ago. Sometimes it's nice to just give credit where it due, we will soon find out won't we, I guarantee Troy won't lose one bit of sleep over either Sykes or Walsh, if & when Troy beats one of them you can then come on and say Troy will struggle or lose to so & so

Sorry about not replying to your text on Saturday mate but I didn't have my phone on and with all the messages when I put it back on i never managed to reply to everyone!!

I just want Ronnie back in the ring asap, he has a cut above his left eye that he got in the last 10 seconds of the bout but we are hopeful that he will manage to do a 6 rounder on the 1st November in Aberdeen. After that I would want him to box the guys just under British level to get more experience at that level.

On Troy James, how much of him have you actually seen mate? Before the bout we couldn't get any footage of him and we were surprised at just how good technically he was. I think he could give both Sykes and Liam Walsh problems, he uses his height to his advantage and is very awkward (he reminds me a bit of gavin Rees), both Sykes and Liam Walsh struggle at the weight too and that could give Troy more of a chance too. Troy stayed cool and calm throughout. I defo wouldn't write him off against either.

You would think that Billy, Sometimes it's nice to just give credit where it due, we will soon find out won't we, I guarantee Troy won't lose one bit of sleep over either Sykes or Walsh, if & when Troy beats one of them you can then come on and say Troy will struggle or lose to so & so

To be honest until Saturday i would have thought the same!! I hadn't seen much of Troy and there is limited footage of him. (Only the Chris Male fight) So if you look at just statistics and levels then it would seem they would pretty much walk in the park for those 2. But Troy is better technically than people think and shouldn't judge him until they see him.

One factor could be that Troy did look very tired in rounds 9 and 10 mate, i know you have said in an earlier post that you told Troy to coast the last couple but from the other side of the ring he looked unable to hold Ronnie off for those rounds and i'm sure that you would have liked him to show a bit more when Ronnie piled on the pressure! Best of luck with whoever you have to fight for the title anyway.

I think that both Sykes and Walsh would be a problem.. I would favour Sykes to have too high a work rate and to outpoint Troy. Sykes leaves it all in the ring every fight. I think this would depend on how easily Gary made the weight.. As for Walsh I still don't believe he will fight at this weight. Liam is a very good boxer I think Troy would need another style than what he showed on Saturday to beat Liam. He would be a underdog but a very live one. He learned his mistake from the loss against Flannigan and adjusted a game plan to make things difficult for Ronnie. Although you have said this wasn't Troy at his best I certainly haven't seen him any better I think that was Troy at his best. Troy left it all in the ring on Saturday. Billy I think you will have been shocked at how well Troy actually fought. He stuck to his game plan throughout made the right decisions under pressure. If he can get a similar plan to beat Sykes or Walsh then you never know.. I would go for Sykes wide points and Walsh a little closer.. Hope these fights now happen

X2, very classy, dignified and intelligent response by all involved and by some other posters too. It was a great fight, well done to both Team Clark & Team Troy, especially the 2 fighters who produced a great performance, both have a lot more to give and I'm confident you will see both with titles and in good fights in the future

Just a general question (not specifically to this fight).

This sounds like it was a good fight, and I am sure that there are plenty of other similar fights happening that many boxing fans don't know about and will not see.

Is it not viable for the bigger promoters to put these competitive fights on their cards in front of a bigger audience and maybe even TV ?

I don't mean necessarily having a long term contract, but even on a one-off basis - then, if they get good feedback via social media etc. then some boxers could get signed to that promoter.

eg. if Eddie was looking for a competitive fight for one of his bills, could he think that looks like a good fight I will show that, or is it just too complicated to do that ?

Hopefully my question makes sense .....

I totally agree mate, it would make sense for Eddie/Frank to put fights like this one on Saturday on there bills instead of the meaningless fights you sometimes see on the bills. The fight Saturday was quality, there was great boxing skills and heart shown from both fighters and you could see what getting the chance to fight for the British Title meant to them.

It would be great if a promoter didn't sign up loads of fighters but maybe just a few marquee fighters and then picked from the best fights around to make up the undercards instead of the same fighters at every show on the undercards! Wishful thinking !! haha

Here's first few rounds, the bloke filming it unfortunately picked a bad position and the camera ended up getting knocked off tripod and broke, hope you enjoy what footage is there.
