^ The bullshit excuse "Don't take offence, it's not aimed at you!" is a stupid diversionary measure, yes.
The deep content of that excuse is "Don't worry, they're ripping someone else off, not you! How can you possibly get upset about that?", which of course is perfectly okay, much the same way it would be okay if I chose to delouse someone's dog by carpet-bombing a hundred mile radius of its kennel.
The basic thing is, the economic game of modern boxing--which works so well, at enriching about twelve people, that is--is predicated on finding a captive audience & fleecing the living fvck out of it (works especially well if a fighter has a local following). The complicity of various other parties than the twelve that are getting their pockets lined in this is frankly pathetic, but to be expected.
PS: & of course it neglects the obvious: that anyone with an interest in watching the fight anyway (say, boxing fans, mebbe) is gonna also get spelunked. But that don't matter: they didn't
mean to rip you off! You're just collateral damage!
