From what I read, it wasn't that there weren't any toilets, it's that they were outside of the venue (ie, you had to walk in a dedicated area rather in the concourse like at Earl's Court for example).

Anyway, some strange stories/rumours regarding this event and press isn't too impressed either. The BBC are running an article on their boxing section and were clearly not happy with the Fury v Chisora fight ending at 1am.
You had to leave the venue to get to the toilets and get your hand stamped to Q back up to get back in again. Were no where near enough toilets when you got out so people just took to pissing where they wanted.

The girls toilets were all full of lairy blokes shouting and screaming. I went with my missus on Saturday and had to go in the girls loos with her after the first time cos it was so on top in there. Was fornicating horrible enough being a man in there on but i really wouldn't have wanted to be a bird

I didn't mean you but theres plenty who are just using as a stick to beat Warren with but they go quiet when theres similar problems at Hearns shows

:TU: I agree problems with most boxing shows whoever the promoter. Cocaine and lack of staff the main ones. Also lack of toilets happens a lot

Well you quoted my post lol

You're right though, Hearn gets away with absolute bollox because he interacts with fans more.

He tweeted this morning, £150s and £100s sold out for Crolla. I went on and ordered 2 £100s from Eventim no bother.

He just spouts lies all the time.

No point the matchroom fans out in force on twitter still moaning. Also the fella who won the tickets and they got sold was told not to come. A old sponser did the comp something w*rr*n did not know about. He still turned up and was given free drinks all night. He was also given a free ticket for anyone w*rr*n show he wants.

Only real trouble I saw was when leaving after the Fury-Chisora fight, a guy on the concourse was lying in a pool of blood with paramedics working on him. Police had formed a line in front of him so couldn't see the extent.

In the arena, think I only remember seeing two scuffles, so didn't seem to be anything too OTT, despite the above.

It was a good show, but went on too long and too late. Lots of people stranded at the end.

The eubank should of been on at 9 and fury at 10, with other fights on after. Warren security firm were garbage that night, they should use Matchroom security firm they get are highly rated.

The excel is an awful venue. The tickets system is very flawed, you were allowed to go out of the venue, meaning you could of got some used tickets of your mates, and given them to other mates outside of the venue and gotten them in for free. The board should ban any promoters in the future using that place.

You do know that the security firm Matchroom use (i.e Simon Roberts) is only for the protection of the boxers walking them in and out etc. For actual crowd control for Matchroom shows (as well as Warren) it will be the venues own security in most cases or if they don't have one one that the venue then employs.

Matchrooms security is the venues security.

They might have their own men that look after boxers but the stewards will be looking after the crowd and what not.

So it would have been Excel's security team that underperformed, not particularly allegedly's fault but essentially he is the one who should be ensuring the whole venue has an efficient set up to deal with the event.

Random fights in the crowd,

Ineffective, disinterested and outnumbered security staff,

Toilet areas become indoor smoking areas,

Widespread and blatant drug use.

The simple facts are that if any of the above is enough to put you off attending major shows then I wouldnt bother buying tickets for the majority of big cards which feature ticket sellers from different areas/regions.

Sad but true

Utter nonsense. I've never seen people lose their ringside seats and nothing be done about it, ever!

depends on the venue, the head security man should keep the venue security people in check anyhow with meetings before they open the venue, Matchroom security don't just do the fighters they do the whole event.

It looked as though there was a bit of a scrap in the crowd ( I think during Gavin v Skeete) people stopped watching the war in the ring and watched the out of ring scuffle.

I spoke to Simon about it yesterday. The in-house team do the stands. The promoter's team the fighters, dressing rooms and ringside, but not necessarily the entire floor section.

I don't think I saw any until they all surrounded the guy who was stabbed and bleeding everywhere.

Spot on Terry D.
The quality of the rest of the security is down to the venue.
I have known SAUK to "assist" on occasions with issues outside their remit to prevent the whole place going up.
If you've a ringside seat you'll never have a problem in that regard with SAUK in charge because frauds won't get in in the first place.

I was ringside at Fury v Chisora 1 at Wembley Arena, and a lot of people who had tiered seating managed to (annoyingly) sneak into the ringside area. Hennesey was the main promoter for that one.

SAUK usually do a good job IMO. A couple of them like to get their faces on telly a bit too much but, other than that, you can't really fault them - the showdown with Groves' people being a notable exception. Everyone (and I mean everyone not just boxing) hedges their bets with their security budget and goes in cheap. I sometimes struggle to get work because I won't compromise on ratios. As an example I frequently get large pubs getting in touch asking if I can supply one doorman to cover the venue. Anyone, security professional or not, should understand why this should be unacceptable to anyone who cares about their people and doing the job right (this applies both ways i.e. security company and venue); but just have a look next time you're in town how many 'one man doors' there are. The super-rich spending tuppence a week on close protection is another one.

Venue security is just the same. Too few bodies and, generally, not enough experience/common sense.

Is it true to say the arena was half empty for the Fury fight? Seems a lot to leave if you have paid foor the fight, however some might not have had an option if no transport or work the following day. I didnt see the Fury fight on TV as I had to go to bed for a 6am start the following morning.

There was a lot left but wouldn't say it was anywhere near half.

There were a fair few coppers in there but they didn't do anything of use. Little groups of 5/6 walking through the bar areas throughout the night but they really didn't look like they gave a fornicate. People were smoking in venue right in front of them and they turned a blind eye

There was a mass exodus at the end of each round when it became clear the fight was gonna be a stinker. I left after the 6th and there were thousands walking out. Trains has already stopped at 12:30am when the fight was starting. I left thinking i'd steal a march on the rest and find a cab but was still stuck there until 3:30am
