Crolla v Abril
Re: Crolla v Abril
Have to say if Antony had fought Lundy in September that would have given us an indication of how this fight would go.
Looking at Lundys record very surprised he has never fought for a world title.

If it was football the elected powers might make some kind of populist gesture towards "cleaning up the sport" but it doesn't seem to work that way with boxing.cocobongo wrote:The latest WBA rankings got announced yesterday and Crolla isn't in the top 15 so how on earth can they get him a fight at the world champion?
Re: Crolla v Abril
I've just watched Richar Abril vs Edis Tatli, Abril's last fight (first time I've watched him). First impressions are that he's too skillful for our Anthony, but the good news is he doesn't have a big punch. If he did Crolla would be in big trouble. Abril has 8 kos in 19 wins but most of those have come against fighters with dodgy records. But that works both ways. Over 12 rounds Ant would have a chance of catching him at some point if he had the big finisher himself, but Ant tends to wear opponents down rather than knock them clean out, and I don't think he's going to wear this guy down.
Second impression is that he's bloody boring to watch: left hand held low, a lot of posing, right hand started getting lower too as the rounds went on, but will our Ant be able to take advantage of that? Hope so but I doubt it. You need a lot of cleverness to catch an artist like Abril out & think we all know Anthony isn't quite at that level...and yet there's always that hope that at his very best on the night, maybe, just maybe, even if the head says no.
Interesting stat from Abril's record one of his 3 defeats was to Breidis Prescott, who famously ended Amir Khan's unbeaten run, way back when; lost a split decision.

Otake and Glazewski were also unranked PRIOR to their world title fights being announced...is it just a coincidence neither of those were competitive...?Neil Gee wrote:If it was football the elected powers might make some kind of populist gesture towards "cleaning up the sport" but it doesn't seem to work that way with boxing.cocobongo wrote:The latest WBA rankings got announced yesterday and Crolla isn't in the top 15 so how on earth can they get him a fight at the world champion?

4/6 Abril looks a generous price to me.

Crollas 6/5 which I'm suprised at.
Thought it would be more along the lines of 2/1

He's not a massive underdog according to the bookies... 6/4Bobbygahan wrote:Well fight confirmed.as he said himself, a massive underdog . Every dog has his day

Picked off on the way in, then if Abril can't get out of there quick enough, nullified on the inside. Crolla is going to have to make a huge step up to win the fight, needs to reach a level he's never looked close to in the past.Counter-puncher wrote:poor fight IMO, the style match is horrible for Crolla
Re: Crolla v Abril
Been a while since I've seen odds that generous, if that price is still there closer to the fight, I'll be lumping on Abril, only worry is that he might get robbed. Don't know what the bookies are playing at, starting the odds off like that, I could understand if money had come in on Crolla, but it's a bit far out for that to be happening.Black Sam Bellamy wrote:4/6 Abril looks a generous price to me.

It should be interesting who the judges are for the Abrill/Crolla bout.merseybox wrote:winner meets winner of derry v whoever (its a big name) in his next fight for world title in massive show at either liverpool echo or manchester arena next spring/early summer?

Casuals jumping on the bandwagon, wait until Sky give the fight a big push in the new year, Crolla might be the betting favouriteBlack Sam Bellamy wrote:Abril 4/5 now with Bet Victor. Re: Crolla v Abril
Which site would any of the gamblers recommend to use I've never bet over Internet before thanks in advance
Re: Crolla v Abril
Use oddschecker, picks out the best odds for you, no point in staying loyal to any one site, use whichever bookie is offering the best odds and take advantage of free bets, you don't get the stake back if you win, so either stick it on a long shot, or if they're offering evens in a fight like this and there's a £50 free bet, it's almost a license to print a £50 note if they'll take free bets at odds like that.Jakemilo wrote:Which site would any of the gamblers recommend to use I've never bet over Internet before thanks in advance

I just see Abril using the same tactics he used against Brandon Rios. Crolla will eat the long jab all night long.
