He stopped Markus Beyer in the 12th, then in his next bout Catley was himself stopped in the 12th when he was up on the cards against Dingaan Thobela. Incidentally, his first bout against Eric Lucas, which occurred immediately before the Beyer fight, also ended in a 12th round stoppage.rd350lc wrote:Glenn Catley ko'ing a german fighter late on ( don't know his name tho)

Great thread, Rhino, except that Graham wasn't show boating against Jackson.rhino222 wrote: What about Julian Jackson himself putting a showboating bomber graham to sleep!
Well, he may have been at some point during the fight but in the moments leading up to the fight he was all business & going for a stoppage. Showboating might have helped him. Jackson (whom I think is the greatest one punch KO artist of all time) would have been stopped at the rounds end.
But the way you worded it made it seem like Graham was at fault for his loss through showboating. If anything, it happened because he was being aggressive against a brilliant puncher.
Re: obviously up against it and losing and...........bingo
I think given the thread title we must mention Ensley Bingham vs Nicky Thurbin. Although I don't think the majority had him down, I believe he was down on the scorecards (or was it with the ref in those days) at the time of the 12th round stoppage.
Rothman vs Thompson was possibly the ultimate one though.

Re: obviously up against it and losing and...........bingo
by showboating I was referring to grahams style in the majority of that fight, his swaying and unique foot movement etc. goading Jackson. I was not referring to the actual few seconds before the incident. from memory I remember Jackson had his back to the camera, with graham unloading and looking to end the fight, unfortunately grahams attack left him more open than usual. the rest is history.Taansend wrote:Great thread, Rhino, except that Graham wasn't show boating against Jackson.rhino222 wrote: What about Julian Jackson himself putting a showboating bomber graham to sleep!

Some great, great shouts & memories in this thread... But I don't think Kennedy McKinney's one-punch turnaround vs Welcome Ncita has been mentioned yet, along with Kenny Adams' corner advice: "The only way you gonna win this fight is knock him the fvck out, you understand?"
McKinney, down on the cards in the tenth, gets nailed in the following round, takes a knee to avoid the follow-up (& wasn't Kennedy a master of that? Get rattled, take a walk, drop to the floor & take the eight count. Great boxing brain, get Mr Korobov some tapes of him someone), then as Ncita swarms all over him... McKinney wipes him out with a single right hand.
McKinney did the same, in four rounds, to Junior Jones at Madison Square Garden: got badly rocked & took a knee, then against the run of play landed a huge right to take his man out. & the only reason people don't remember that as an all-time shoot-out is 'cos an hour later Naz & Kevin Kelley took turns bouncing each other off the floor.

Pacquiao, as I remember it, was handling Marquez in their last fight until he got caught clean and counted out.
As short lived as it was, Judah was doing very well against Tyszu until he got flattened with a huge right.
Froch v Taylor, competative fight but Taylor was a clear points winner on my card had it gone to points.
Froch v Groves 1, if you believe the ref made a sound decision to stop it.

NO?palooka wrote:Hagler v Hearns?
Leonard was getting out-boxed and battered around a fair bit until he came back to win by stoppage a great come from behind win.
Re: obviously up against it and losing and...........bingo
I wasn't sure, hence the question mark, Hagler didn't have much time left to close the show though, he was split open.

Jason Cook vs Sandro Casamonica
Not strictly within the criteria of this thread but a bloody good knockout.

Parson Cross must be on holiday. No way does a thread otherwise go this far without a mention of Ryan Rhodes - Jamie Moore.

Good thread. This fits the bill even though it was far from a good fight...
Briggs v Liakhovich - Briggs wins a HW belt by KO at 2.59 of the 12th round whilst losing on all scorecards.
