He stopped Markus Beyer in the 12th, then in his next bout Catley was himself stopped in the 12th when he was up on the cards against Dingaan Thobela. Incidentally, his first bout against Eric Lucas, which occurred immediately before the Beyer fight, also ended in a 12th round stoppage.

Well, he may have been at some point during the fight but in the moments leading up to the fight he was all business & going for a stoppage. Showboating might have helped him. Jackson (whom I think is the greatest one punch KO artist of all time) would have been stopped at the rounds end.

But the way you worded it made it seem like Graham was at fault for his loss through showboating. If anything, it happened because he was being aggressive against a brilliant puncher.

I think given the thread title we must mention Ensley Bingham vs Nicky Thurbin. Although I don't think the majority had him down, I believe he was down on the scorecards (or was it with the ref in those days) at the time of the 12th round stoppage.

Rothman vs Thompson was possibly the ultimate one though.

by showboating I was referring to grahams style in the majority of that fight, his swaying and unique foot movement etc. goading Jackson. I was not referring to the actual few seconds before the incident. from memory I remember Jackson had his back to the camera, with graham unloading and looking to end the fight, unfortunately grahams attack left him more open than usual. the rest is history.
