Khan was a national hero at 17. People started to dislike him the more they read about him and heard from him. I'd say post Oliver Harrison, he's lost a lot of love... I don't mind him myself, I wouldn't be popular if the media followed me from 17, either.

It isn't a sportsmans responsibility to be a role model, would you class the likes of John Conteh, George Best and James Hunt as role models given what they got up to? Those people were celebrated for their free spirited ways and rightly so, yet nowadays a footballer or a boxer(or any other sportsman for that matter) has a threesome or snorts a line of coke all of a sudden its scandalous and immoral.

Have you honestly just compared George Best and James Hunt to Amir Khan?

Let's compare Ozzy Osbourne to Cliff Richard too.

One is a loveable, but crazy rock star, who makes no apologies for who he is.

The other is a sinister, manicured 'man of god' that seemingly leads a double-life that is the polar opposite of the glossy Hello magazine photos.

If I say that Amir Khan is a nob, then (certain) people suddenly go, why is that ? is that racist ?

You only have to look at the most popular British boxers over the past 20 years - Frank Bruno, Chris Eubank, Nigel Benn, Naz, Amir Khan, Audley, Ricky Hatton, Joe Calzaghe.

At the time of their respective Olympics, both Khan and Audley were massively popular - their actions since have contributed to any fall in popularity.
