Re: Fury vs Hammer
Another small opponent for 6'9" Fury. :(
Hammer could easily make cruiserweight if he was in proper shape. Fury is avoiding opponents closer to his own size like Browne (who wanted the fight but was turned down) and Ustinov.
Hammer isn't a big puncher and has nothing that will trouble Fury.

Re: Fury vs Hammer
Good fight. I thought Fury would take on a C-lister like Oquendo or Leapai while he waits for Wlad, but Hammer is a solid opponent.
I strongly doubt Hammer could make CW. Against Airich he weighed in at a career low and was still 241. He's a big guy.
Ustinov is old and mediocre. Fury would batter him with ease.

Re: Fury vs Hammer
Not a bad choice for Fury. I would have rather him taken on Lucas Browne or Charles Martin, but Im ok with this one.
Re: Fury vs Hammer
excellent opponent
Charles martin hasn't beaten anyone, to be fighting American class fighter!!

Both Martin and Browne are being avoided by protected fighters like Fury.ruin795 wrote:Not a bad choice for Fury. I would have rather him taken on Lucas Browne or Charles Martin, but Im ok with this one.
He has talent though, Hammer does not.cold187 wrote:excellent opponent

Re: Fury vs Hammer
Browne arguably lost his fight against Rudnenko. He is not good, and he is not being avoided.Freedom2013 wrote:Both Martin and Browne are being avoided by protected fighters like Fury.ruin795 wrote:Not a bad choice for Fury. If i remember correctly Tyson clearly said whilst stood with Browne (who agreed BTW) that it wasn't a match either man benefits from until there was a championship belt on the line.
Fury has been protected, but he still has far better wins than either guy you mentioned. He and his team are playing th ABC game very well.
Re: Fury vs Hammer
Fury and his people are obviously waiting for Klitschko to show signs of serious decline. Better to bide his time and make easy money with Abell, Chisora and Hammer, than to take risks with anyone who might accidentally land a dream-crusher on Fury's jaw.
By the by, what's Pricey doing these days?

Re: Fury vs Hammer
Christian Hammer is a pretty good opponent. Between Chisora, Cunningham, and Hammer; Fury is putting together the best resume of any heavyweight outside of Wlad. I support that a lot more than all of the other heavyweights who just talk a big game and never fight anyone.
Re: Fury vs Hammer
Why can't he fight Wlad next? Both are free are they not? Hammer is a decent opponent and if the Wlad fight is not possible then I'm not complaining

Yeah tiny 6.2, 249 pounds!
Re: Fury vs Hammer
Because Wlad is fighting Bryant Jennings (or TBA) on 25th April in New York.TheWigwam wrote:Why can't he fight Wlad next? Both are free are they not? Hammer is a decent opponent and if the Wlad fight is not possible then I'm not complaining
Maybe Wlad and Fury will get in on sometime in the summer.

Re: Fury vs Hammer
Last I read, Wlad wanted Jennings first and Stiverne - Wilder second. By the time he gets to Fury, Fury's gonna be a career-defining scalp.TheWigwam wrote:Why can't he fight Wlad next? I agree if Fury were to wait until mid to late 2016.He will have had 3-5 more ranked opponentsLackeos wrote:Last I read, Wlad wanted Jennings first and Stiverne - Wilder second. under his belt. The money from this fight would be incredible.
Re: Fury vs Hammer
Hammer is a decent opponent.
Re: Fury vs Hammer
I know this fight is booked but!!!
wlad is having problems with jennings signing for his april fight in america
if they offered the fight to tyson he would take it in a second

I don't think Wlad would take this fight yet.Fury is his mandatory.Wlad has tomullenman wrote:I know this fight is booked but!!!

sign by the end of May.
I think Wlad will offer step aside money to Fury so he can face Wilder/Stiverne winner.
Fury won't get a shot in my opinion until 2016.

Jennings is getting a 7 figure payday last i heard. and also heard from his mouth the fight is confirmed just ironing out few little things around the fight rather than negotiations.
in all likely hood likely to be announced after wilder/stiverne fight

Re: Fury vs Hammer
Not a bad choice. The man was the former WBO European Champion, and has had some good wins. The only real issue that I have is that he is 6'2"... I don't necessarily buy into the claim from Hammer that he likes to fight taller men, because he was kayoed in six rounds by the 6'7" Mariusz Wach... but that being said, he does meet the requirements: #4 WBO rating, top European heavyweight, has a solid record against decent/good names, and this contest will be for the WBO International championship.

in Hammers defense. He had 8 fights when he fought the 22-0 Wach.HE has improved since thenHomicideHenry wrote:Not a bad choice. Re: Fury vs Hammer
I suspect that Fury will batter Hammer with ease. He has a decent record but I wouldn't say he's much beyond mediocre if Ustinov is the standard for that. I also don't think he has any attributes that will trouble Fury or make the bout interesting given that he's a fairly small HW, isn't notably fast or skillful, and lacks power, while Ustinov can at least match Fury for size and aside from Wlad is the only person to hurt Pulev as a pro.jujigatame wrote:Good fight. That said, Fury could've just sat on his title shot so I don't have problems with him fighting Hammer.
