frampton tv twist
frampton tv twist
reports from ireland suggest that frampton next fight with avalos is heading for an online ppv stream rather than sky, allegedly or others suggested - this means the promoters would collect a wedge of coin directly but streams are not easily accessed for everyone. the undercard could also suffer off this with more latvians taken over.

Would it not make more sense to just postpone the fight for 2 weeks and then they'll have more of a choice for TV?

Re: frampton tv twist
The last time this happened was Froch / Taylor and I don't think that did particularly well.
Re: frampton tv twist
Clearly mistaking being massive in Ireland for being massive anywhere else.

Bad news if true, my internet is with Sky & is slow as fvck, no way would I buy it with my shitty connection. Only PPV I ever bought online was Froch vs Taylor, but that was in my old house which was on awesome Virgin broadband.
Re: frampton tv twist
they got rid of belfast legend gerry storey so no other trainer would take a cut of the cash, they set up there own promotion company so matchroom wouldn't take a cut of the cash now they going for the direct cash flow online.

Ridiculous move if true...then again I'm not too sure Barry really knows what he's doing...and for those saying "Well he took Frampton to a world title" I dare say almost any promoter with a kid that good could had a world champion on their hands...
Re: frampton tv twist
Why would anyone pay for an online stream when free streams are so easy to use?

I'm not paying any more SKY ppv, it's my new years resolution - it's ridiculous that ordinary people living ordinary lives worry about whether promoters, television execs and professional sportsmen earn enough and feel guilty over their plight they'll pay an extra £15 to help them out.

Well if you've got one of those nice TV's, I can see why. I don't. Don't even have a telly.expe wrote:Why would anyone pay for Sky PPV when free streams are so easy to use?cobbler80 wrote:Why would anyone pay for an online stream when free streams are so easy to use?

It won't take you long before you get things more comfortable
Re: frampton tv twist
People said he didn't know what he was doing when he took Frampton away from Sky and Matchroom. He got a TV deal, eliminator for the IBF, then the WBC, brought Martinez over for a voluntary, the Odyssey wasn't big enough for the fight, so they built a stadium capable of hosting it. He's done a great job so far, guided him from the day he turned pro to selling out arenas and a world title. This, if true, is a bit of a left field move, but he's done everything right so far, so I'll hold off on criticising him for it until we find out more about how it will work, if it brings in more than having the fight on Sky or allegedly would, he's done a good job.Boxing Prospect wrote:Ridiculous move if true...then again I'm not too sure Barry really knows what he's doing...and for those saying "Well he took Frampton to a world title" I dare say almost any promoter with a kid that good could had a world champion on their hands...
Re: frampton tv twist
Barry's played it ok so far but this is a dick move. If he can't get the TV situation sorted for a world title fight when Frampton is just about ready to hit the big time, then he really has stuffed it up.
allegedly or Sky, that's the choices and that's who you have to work with if you want your fights on decent TV coverage in the UK.

Because you're watching it in good quality on a TV rather than on a laptopexpe wrote:Why would anyone pay for Sky PPV when free streams are so easy to use?cobbler80 wrote:Why would anyone pay for an online stream when free streams are so easy to use?

If i'm gonna watch it on a shitty laptop stream i definitely aint paying for it
I'm sure you can watch PPV illegally through your TV too but i've no idea about that to be honest. Tech spaz unfortunately

They can stream live over the internet in HD perfectly easily with no difference in picture quality.cobbler80 wrote:Because you're watching it in good quality on a TV rather than on a laptopexpe wrote:Why would anyone pay for Sky PPV when free streams are so easy to use?cobbler80 wrote:Why would anyone pay for an online stream when free streams are so easy to use?

Re: frampton tv twist
I imagine the issue of options is decisive in a situation like this, any broadcaster who gives Barry a decent fee for a one fight deal would be shortsighted; they just get a single night of boxing. For a fighter like Frampton, I can see sky and BN demanding options on Carl's next few fights too.TheCobra wrote:Barry's played it ok so far but this is a dick move. This situation highlights the pitfalls of announcing the show before you have a broadcast partner.
good luck to Barry and Carl but I hope this online PPV attempt is a total disaster. We pay to sky and to BN, the last thing we as fans need is for other promoters to do this. In the month of feb, fans will pay forty to fifty to sky for sky sports, and 12 to BN. It's asking too much expect us to fork out a third charge, for a single show. It is a nothing fight, it's not like he is facing Rigondeux or Quigg.
Re: frampton tv twist
We still don't actually know what they're doing with it, the price or how it will work. I'd much rather see this than them go back to Sky.JimJim2009 wrote:I imagine the issue of options is decisive in a situation like this, any broadcaster who gives Barry a decent fee for a one fight deal would be shortsighted; they just get a single night of boxing.
