This sounds very promising in terms of ITV's commitment to boxing.

ITV executive Niall Sloane said: 'This is a first step back into boxing for us and it is very exciting.
'It used to be that fighters were built up on terrestrial television before going on to pay-per-view with the likes of Sky. But lately the wider public have been deprived of the chance of seeing brilliant youngsters like Carl.'

Now imagine the impact of a promoter, acting on behalf of ITV, winning the purse bid for Andy Lee Vs. BJS. Very unlikely but an interesting thought.

Totally fantastic news!

The atmosphere at Carl's last few fights in Ireland have been something special. This is fantastic news for not only us fans but for the sport.

Hopefully it's just the start of something amazing :box:

Well done Barry.

Frampton will now become a star. Absolutely brilliant for the sport. And for Carl. Long term earnings for Frampton much boosted surely.

Unless itv have picked it up for tuppence ?

The development adds a new dimension to the "its either sky or BN" scenario for promoters who don't have their own tv deal or channel.

I was a critic of Barry but fair play to him and his team for pulling this off.

Frampton can become the next coming of ricky hatton

Hatton never fought on ITV did he!? He was a one off, he brought the football crowd with him and he is English.

This is great news though. Pleased for all involved. Hopefully Frampton does the business which whets ITV's appetite and we see more boxing on the channel!

More importantly though, does this mean a return of the big fight live music!!!?

Any bets on some injuries causing a minor delay to the Fury card?

The exposure he'll get from this is worth giving it to ITV for free, might take a hit in the short term, but long term it will be massive for him.

Great news, a major shot in the arm for British boxing ( rather than a shot in the head: see Ringside )

Excellent news; well done Barry!
In the next month we have two world class, competitive bouts on tv; both on terrestrial television!

Meanwhile, mismatchroom 90:10 bouts continue on Sky.....

They've picked the perfect fighter, best fans and household name manager. The public love a Belfast boy who's united his country... Eddie must be sick, he really thought everyone wants to be with him. Got to ask Quigg now, would you rather be hidden away on Sky in front of 500,000 viewers or be in a mega fight in front of millions!

100,000, not 500,000. They hold no cards at this stage, Frampton has the support, the title and the TV deal, he doesn't need Quigg, Quigg desperately needs him. It's not just a great move from McGuigan because of the exposure, they're now in a position to dictate the terms for a fight with Quigg.

Forget Quigg - Frampton vs Galahad would be absolutely huge on ITV. Frampton would be sold to the public as the new McGuigan, Galahad would be sold as the next Naz, ITV could milk it for all it's worth. Would be superb to have a genuinely big British fight on terrestrial TV after all these years.

Great news that ITV is getting involved, the more TV channels the better.I know Sky get allot of stick but they have consistanly shown boxing for 20 years with plenty of good stuff as well as the bad also their have been times when the sport would of been fucked without their support but boxing is on the up,happy days :yay:

WOW - FAB!!!!

Now ITV in 2015 - get it right..... we need..... "duh, duh, duh, de duuuuuhhhh, duh, duh, duh" as the theme song, not the one you had with your foray 10 years ago!!!!!!

Twitter members, bombard Frampton with this request!!!

It's funny with the speculation, were people just guessing??.... we had online PPV, BT sport, Sky, 5 all mentioned as serious contenders by people saying they'd had inside information. So either Frampton had a lot of interest from a varied of TV outlets, or people were just plucking tv channels out of thin air.

once again "duh, duh, duh, de duuuuh, duh, duh, duh".

Can ITV poach Jim Rosenthal also from allegedly??
