Van Heerden looks to be on a similar level to Denton Vassell. I think this one is quite interesting actually. Gavin and Van Heerden are Euro level at best and there is nothing wrong with that. Everyone bleating on about him stepping up need to realise that he will only get a hiding if he does. If he gets through Van Heerden he'll probably fight Brook, get beat and get paid. Nout wrong with that.
Fair play to Matchroom on this one. I'll be tuning in.

I don't think it's a terrible fight by any means, although it is pretty underwhelming. Strongly agree that Gavin could move down a weight though, I know he keeps saying he can't, but maybe his camp should start insisting he tries to give it a proper go.

I thought Gavin edged Bundu by a round but he lost and Frankie hasn't beat anyone to deserve a big fight,don't get me wrong I'd rather see him in with a recent former world champ,just to get a look how Gavin deals with him but Van Heerden's a decent test

It's an alright fight, without it being something to get overly excited about. I don't rate Gavin much as a pro do I wouldn't be surprised if van heeden joined Heiland and Zlatican as fighters who have beaten Matchroom guys on a Matchroom show

Gavin should be at 10st. Everyone can see it. He's fleshy and has no muscle definition at all.

Also, he's just exceptionally boring to watch - never engages really and lacks pop. There is no way they can build a fight with Brook from Gavin - it's a total mismatch.

Mate, I do get that frustration, but all promoters hype their bills/fighters beyond belief. It's the nature of their role. Look at any press release for a Dennis Hobson show, or any thing that Mick Hennessey ever says. Eddie Hearn did not invent bullshit, although he is using a lot of it and on different platforms. It's not worth getting annoyed about, I just don't listen and judge the fights that are made on their own merits, otherwise I'd have stopped following the sport 20 years ago.

As I've said, it's a decent enough match-up, nothing more, nothing less, and seems a sensible match-up for Frankie Gavin at this point in his career.
