What justification do you have for having GGG as your clear #1.
Pretty simple really, he's the best active fighter and best middleweight i've seen since Hagler. Hopefully some elite opposition such as Ward or Froch will step up and take the Golovkin fight and we can see if he can take it to the next level and prove his all-time greatness.
i like ggg also ver much, only problem is that i have with him and the main reason why i cant rate guys like ggg, marquez or ward as #1 in a serious p4p ranking is that none of them have superior athletic.
with superior athleticsm i mean guys who can who are so athletic that they have superior flexibility, foot- and handspeed. thats why 99'9 % of my #1 p4p guys are boxers who are extremly athletic like jones, mosley, mayweather, pacquiao and rigondeaux. why? because with this kind of superior athletic ability you can pretty much do things other boxers cant and therefore you have an advantage over them.
ggg hits very hard and cuts well the ring, but against an middleweight version of a prime mayweather or prime pacquiao, he simply would not have the speed to keep up with them. h would not be able to follow them. he may have a lucky punch, like marquez had who was losing on point and than had a lucky moment. but other than that, prime ggg is 2 at best, but i doubt he could be #1 guy ever.
i think ggg against any top #1 dog is canelo against lara. a strong hitter with pretty much average footspeed chasing a athletic guy he can catch missing all day and getting a gift decision, for me a robbery, lara schooled canelo, made him miss worse than floyd did. ggg may have more power and have a punchers chance, but my money would still be on the more technicle athletic guy. ggg can be lucky that there is no one close as being called super athletic like lara or rigondeaux. i mean there was prime martinez, but those days are long over.
