The problem is he will struggle to put on a big show by himself and certainly won't be able to match purse bids. He needs Hearn to cut him in, Hearn don't need Barry at all.
Purse bids with who? There is no big financial draw at the weight other than Santa Cruz. The next mandatory will likely come against Wake (Kyoei) or Tawatchai (Kiatkreerin) so that's going to be an easy purse bid to win.
McGuigan needs Hearn to make the Quigg fight, which is the money fight, or alternatively he can continue with mandatories for chump change.

If Eddie's serious he should call McGuigans bluff, offer Rigondeaux the fight in Manchester for half the price,Scott has more of a chance against Rigo than Frampton anyway

If Scott wins then he holds the aces,if he losses Hearn can try and get Santa Cruz over for an easier task

Someone fight somebody ffs,I've been off work on holiday this week watching a few classic fights, thank the lord all these inconveniences weren't that bad back then or boxing history would be pretty dire,I'm sick to death of promoters, managers and networks, their sucking the life out of this sport

In my opinion this is Hearn trying to railroad Frampton in to fighting under his conditions - the fight will e on Sky Box Office, the bout will take place in Manchester (Quigg's from Bury), the undercard will be all of Hearn's choosing and none of Barry's other Belfast lads get a look in.

I definitely think that this is a blatant attempt by Hearn to cut Barry out of the picture by showing Carl the money... And gents, if we are to be realistic about it, if someone puts your name on a cheque for £1.5 million, you'll definitely be inclined to tempted by it. Particularly with Carl having a young family to look after.

Going back a month ago, Eddie Hearn gave an interview to The Irish News where he said that he saw the fight on Sky Box office, and that it was being g priced at £16.99 - and he was expecting 500,000 subscriptions which would equal a grand amount of £8,495,000.

If those numbers are accurate, that's a hellvua of an amount of money coughed up for a nights work.
About right, McGuigan sees Frampton as his golden egg, he wants much more than his 25% of his boys purse! he wants to be cut in on the profits for the show too.

There won't be any purse bids, Quigg isn't mandatory and holding his plastic belt stops him from getting an IBF ranking. Hearn might not need McGuigan, but he needs Frampton and if Carl says McGuigan has to be involved, then Hearn will have to play ball.

'Went off'? Exaggerate much?

This is all I posted about that: Eddie always making sure to get in the shot. BM may well have the same tendency but I haven't watched enough fights in which he was involved for it to be as clear to me.

It's an unfortunate situation and if what Hearn is saying is true and he's already offered a 60-40 split co promoted then it drops all the arguments that the forum wannabe lawyers and promoters who think you get 100% of the PPV revenue are using.

Freddy I respect your opinion but just whole heartedly disagree. The only reason in my opinion for exposure is to build yourself into a PPV star. Ricky Hatton never fought on ITV. Carl Froch did and didn't make anywhere near the money that he did when he became a PPV star. We're making out like the Sky machine doesn't generate exposure. I'd also say Carl's exposure went up a lot more from fighting on PPV than it did from his ITV fights. So in my opinion while we don't like shelling out on PPV we have to appreciate this is very likely both fighters biggest career payday and just accept this is a fight that can't be on ITV because ITV can't compete financially.

But Barry would be getting a lot of money from the fight happening. Let's suppose for a minute that those numbers were right (eg priced at £16.99 - getting 500,000 subscriptions equals £8,495,000), and just to make the maths easier, let's pretend that both fighters are getting an equal 50/50 split.

That would mean that Frampton's team would be getting a grand total sum of £4,247,500 - and if Barry was owed 25% of Team Frampton's intake that would mean he would be pocketing £1,061,975. So that's a million quid right there.

That's sheer nonsense, millions and millions of people watched Carl Frampton's last fight. Hell, practically everyone in Ireland tuned in for it. You don't get those numbers when your on as a PPV on Sky, that's just a niche market... Whereas mainstream TV is unrivalled in terms of attracting customers.

Being hid away in sky did Hatton no harm. It's about a lot more than simple exposure, the general public just won't warm to some fighters, Carl Froch for example.

Since when do boxers take the profits 50-50? That's where the promoters earn their cash.
Hearn is well aware this fight will generate cash which is why Frampton will earn 1.5m.
McGuigan knows this too which is why he wants a cut of Hearns profits. Barry is gambling his fighters financial security by insisting he gets his cut of Eddys money on top of his 25%.
The problem is that is Hearn doesn't agree Frampton will never see that type of cash again.
The other problem is that McGuigan does not have the know how or contacts to put the show on himself and would bring nothing to the table to make Hearns show more profitable, he is just after free money for himself.

How can you say McGuigan doesn't have the know how to put on the show, the past 4 Frampton shows have all been sell out stadium affairs and looked to be very well run. He might not have the money but I'm sure he's got the know how & contacts

Tell him to put it on himself then, I'm sure Quigg would jump at a 1.5m payday

Quigg ain't getting £1.5m no matter who promotes the fight. If Barry McGuigan doesn't have the know how or contacts to put a fight like this on, no one does, the only thing he doesn't have is Sky PPV and that's because of the exclusive deal with Hearn.

Generating the cash is the vital part of the promotion, and you are right McGuigan has no worthwhile TV deal, yet wants to co promote and take half of the profits!!!!!!

And Frampton generates it, not Quigg or Hearn. He has no current deal, although I'm sure ITV would be interested in having Frampton on again and he brings a free venue to the table with money Hearn can't touch, as well as major sponsorship backing that Hearn doesn't have, Hearn has PPV and McGuigan doesn't, put them all together and you've got a co promotion.

Hearn is too savvy a businessman to cut McGuigan in, unless he can buy Barry off cheap, he will let Frampton continue to fight for smaller purses, on lesser promotions, prob wait for him to get beat by Rigo, fall out with McGuigan over the small purses and then get him in with Quigg, who will still be the undefeated Interim champ. By then Frampton will be shopworn enough for Quigg to win convincingly and the Irishman will still have never seen anything close to a 1.5m payday.

So savvy he's willing to risk the fight not happening and costing himself a massive profit. And Quigg will fight for even less on undercards, while Hearn loses money on him, Frampton can continue to build his profile on ITV, fill arenas and stadiums in Belfast and go off to America in search of big fights there, making good money while he does it. Quigg will have to fight Rigo sooner or later, or have to drop his fake title since Rigo's team are pushing the WBA to make that fight happen. Frampton's had less fights than Quigg, turned pro after and is far better defensively, how is he going to end up shopworn before Quigg?

Quigg will be less shopworn as Hearn will line up the usual suspects to fight for the interim belt. There are other big fights and big profits for Hearn to make as he has a whole host of other fighters. Frampton will keep.
Frampton will also need to go to America to find the big fights which will lead to him being more shopworn. Also the money you earn on these big bills in America would be a fraction of the 1.5m.
Going back to my main point Frampton has been offered 1.5m, with no options to fight on Hearns show, this is huge money, it would take him at least 6 fights to earn this anywhere else. More realistically it would take at least 15 fights at championship level to achieve this.
The only thing stopping this is the 25% of the 1.5m is not enough for McGuigan.

I have to agree with Ricky Hatton on this one. I just fail to see what Hearn as done wrong. He gets plenty of deserved stick regarding PPV and one sided scraps but in this case hes offered £1.5mil or 60/40 to the winner with no counter offer. He also stated if there was a decent counter offer, Quigg would travel to Belfast...

It's easy for Eddie to say that though. There's absolutely 0% chance that McGuigan and his team sponsors have the money to offer, they can't compete with Sky and Matchroom when it comes to money.

I would just like to know what Frampton and McGuigan want exactly?

So does Quigg, Hearn, Sky and the entire boxing public too.

I see people saying "without Frampton this fight doesn't make any money!" - but where else is Frampton going to earn that money ?

Because if you remove emotion and look at it rationally, both men need one another equally as much.

Sure Frampton might carve out a living from the Belfast gate takings, but it's nothing compared to what he could pick up in one fight with Quigg on Sky box office.

He'd probably have to fight 6 times over 2-3 years to make what he would make in one fight.

And what if Frampton lost, or had a career ending eye/elbow/knee injury? or Quigg got defeated ? then the fight's GONE.

Frampton would have to do about 80 weeks of camps and sparring to fight 6 people to earn what he could earn here. But that's great for Cyclone as they will get all those slices of cake from a lengthy Belfast bum-run.

Something not right with their unwillingness to announce their requirements. Also peculiar that Frampton has had zero presence in any discussions or meetings (hence matchroom going public).

I dont mind either Carl or Scott, I think it's a good fight - but spare me the apologies and justification why Frampton isn't playing ball here, because there is no credible excuse.

Massive Frampton fan and i alway felt that he was a level above Quigg but

fair play to Scott quigg. actively going to belfast to respectfully ask for the fight

get his promoter to come up with the cash (which Eddie Did)

60-40 split for the winner

I really cant understand why carl has not signed up for the fight

Sounds to me that team Frampton want a gaurenteed 60/40 but most likely greater cut of the pie.

I can see why quigg / hearn are holding there group over the more even offer, they bring the big tv purse and imo both parties know the MEN would sell out for the fight even if no quigg or Frampton fans bought a ticket as it's a fight that appeals to the casuals.

I can see Frampton and mcguigan point that Frampton is a massive ticket seller but when your the only show in town it makes it slightly easier, a la ricky burns in Scotland.

Gutted the fight isn't happening as would have been another great day for bbq, beers and boxing.
