I personally think Brook has got more to show which is why I really want to see him in there with more top 10 fighters so he can prove himself. Dan (albeit a mandatory), Gavin then possibly Rios just doesn't do it for me!Rexob wrote:I think we have seen the best of Brook but not the best of Gavin, so it will be closer than most imagine it will be. Frankie may well lose this fight (based on pro form and respective performances) but there is no way he gets banged out early.rhino222 wrote:This could ruin Gavin, Brook is worlds apart. Gavin fights 2 divisions above the one he should be fighting in if he applied himself and worked hard. gavins career is littered with weight making issues pro and am and sub par performances... mainly pro.
Brook TKO 4
Gavin is too classy and too defensively cute - Kell isn't the next coming of SRL you know...

I agree,i think it will be more of a wearing down performance from Brook, more like 9-10 rounds stopping Gavin on his feet.TerribleTerry wrote:Frankie may well lose this fight (based on pro form and respective performances) but there is no way he gets banged out early.rhino222 wrote:This could ruin Gavin, Brook is worlds apart. Yep but Gavin isn't exactly the next coming of Willie Pep either...... I actually think Brook TKO 4 is a realistic prediction myself. Brook does well against southpaws and if he gets his timing down early could nail Gavin and take him out. I'll be more than happy to be proved wrong on this but that's way the I see it.

He isnt may or PAC though and is still probaly feeling the effects of being stabbed. This is just a tick over for brook. He should win comfortably.tobyh5 wrote:Deepest division in boxing and Brook fights Gavin, the guy no one cares about, is interested in, is aware nor really respects having just fought another guy no one cares about nor is interested in or even knows. At least in that case he was taking care of the mandatory which should have freed him up for any of the plethora of other contenders out there
Way to be the other champion to May and Pac![]()

Don't judge him I this fight, judge him if he doesn't fight a rios/Bradley before Xmas
Re: Why is Frankie Gavin written off by the majority of people v Kell Brook
This fight is all about keeping Brook active, he has had about 4 big fights 'fall through' over the last 2 years, he needs to get back in the habit of keeping fit, ticking over between fights for not too long and making the weight of course. i expect to see Kell have at least 3 fights over the next 12 months, gaving being the first. Its not Brooks fault Gavin is IBF ranked, Brook will take care of business and keep the crowd happy. Big big fights have a habit of coming along with 3 months notice, Kell needs to be in the active/weight making/winning habit and ready for a call be it stateside or London town.
Frankie Gavin only just kept his head above water v Curtis Woodhouse! Gavin at his best gets beat comprehensively by a lacklustre Brook performance.

Re: Why is Frankie Gavin written off by the majority of people v Kell Brook
Gavin should get trim, drop to 140 and see if he can become the best in Britain by fighting the likes of Saunders, Ryan, Nurse etc maybe even Burns. Some good fights to be made and if he wins a couple, move on to Euro honours.
Re: Why is Frankie Gavin written off by the majority of people v Kell Brook
I would suggest he could do sub 140. He looks very soft at 147. Brook on the otherhand, like myself, is a chiselled adonis! .....

I really can't agree with any of this, I reckon Brooks a level above Gavin generally, but even on the specific attributes you list I think you've missed the mark by a fair bitBOYOVERTHEHILL wrote:Ok....here goes
Frankie is in with a hell of a shot to beat Kell Brook in my honest opinion.
Frankie has a solid chin...awkward style ....very good defensively....and underrated power.
His boxing at times can be beautiful and yes admittedly it can also be very negative and quite boring.
The main reasons I think he has a shot at beating Kell is his quite simple....He has far superior boxing skills and I think he will make Kell look silly at times.
I don't understand all the Kell is massive for the weight stuff and even if he is he hardly bangs like kovalev does he?
Would Kell have dealt with Bundu much better?....I'm not sure...especially after his life or death struggle with Carson Jones and he didn't exactly light up Shawn Porter did he?
I've got a major feeling a lot of people are going to get one hell of a shock!?
Technically I think Brooks the better. Frankie has looked ordinary a good way below world level. "far superior boxing skills "? Not for me I'm afraid.
Power? Frankie has under-rated power? I see little evidence of that and Brook may not be GGG but he can bang. The edge in power certainly goes to Brook and he's quicker too.
Chin? i don't think either man has issues in this department, but Frankie has been down.
But the thing I think could make the biggets difference on fight night. Dedication and hard work.
I think the Carson Jones fight was a wake up call for Brook and he looks in great shape for his recent fights, coming back from the stabbing in particular I think he felt he has something to prove and trained like a demon.
Frankie has had his commitment called into question more than once. Just when you start to believe him when he says he's doing the work and living the sport, he goes and loses to a 40 year old or looks bang average against and ordinary Skeete (lets be honest, brook deals with both comfortably)
I do think he'll make more effort in for this, it's the biggest fight of his career, if this can't get you up for it nothing will. But I still reckon Brook will come in far better prepared
Re: Why is Frankie Gavin written off by the majority of people v Kell Brook
Gavin is just a good amateur who didn't have the power or out and out dedication to make a world level pro.
I'm sure he'll give Brook a tricky fight for a while but I just see him being outgunned in there, Kell has the speed and power to hurt Gavin and will get to him eventually either by a stoppage or racking up points once Gavin has blown off his early energy.
Look at who Gavin has had epic struggles with, Brook takes care of pretty much all of them with relative ease, Bundu probably the only one who would be a decent fight. At the top level you need a bit of power to get your opponents respect at least and Gavin just doesn't seem to have that.
