The ultimate goal was to make 9 figures in one night

Post by Chepppaaa »

and thats what we did - quote from floyd at the press con after the fight

floyd was never into it for the fans. when i hear somebody say, that the ultimate goal was not to make fans or or showcase a exciting fight fans would remember, than i am very disgusted. i mean, if a poor boxer wins a 1 million dollar purse and says "money was the most important thing in this fight!, than i can understand him, he made litle bucks and for the first time made big bucks. but when a multi millionere, who made roughly around 300 m, before the pac fight says, that the ultimate goal was to make the most money possible, not saying anything about giving the fight some action, than i realy understand why i disliked floyd in first place.

I mean, i didnt buy the ppv, but i watched the fight.sad for those who paid the 100, because to be quiet honest, the build up and the inside episodes were way more interresting than the fight. i saw manny trying to make a fight and bring action and floyd running holding, doing wlad style and basicly one punching his way through the fight to a boring UD, like so many expected, but so many hoped for a more interresting outcome. like i often said, for me, the most important thing wasnt if manny or floyd won, but that the fight would have been good and it wasnt. floyd often dominated manny and i am asking myself, why didnt he once tried to tko or buffle manny? is running all he can do? to be fair, manny didnt do enough either, didnt roach and manny learn from castillo and maidana? come as close as you can and dont make into a thinking fight, make it a brawl and unleash, even if you get countered, make it rugged. also i dislike bayless, when floyd holded or lean over manny, which he did often, bayless never onces gave him a warning.

today, everybody lost. manny lost the fight, floyd lost the last view fans he had, bayless lost his credentials and most importantly, millions of fans lost money and the hope for an exciting fight.

big loss for sport of boxing.

Pac lost as respect for him is diminished.
Floyd lost, as no one can seriously think of him as one of the greatest ever.

Oh, and we all lost as we're out a few more dollars than we were yesterday.

if you are happy with watching a boring fight and spending 100 on it, than good for you :TU:

i am not angry that floyd won. i hoped for a good fight, regardless of the winner. i am a bit angry, that it didnt turn out this way and blame floyd the most. like i said before, floyd dominated manny in some rounds, why not even try once, to knock him down or pressure to get a tko?

floyd was never into it for the fans.
"Why" he's in it at this point has little bearing on anything, though.
He was also never into raquetball. Or peaches.
Besides that, on the other hand, one could say that he's all about the fans, as in he managed to get those fanatics to pay him more than any other athlete in any sport ever, for a few different one off events.
A fan (-atic) is not about a love affair, it's about extremism, either negative or positive. And Floyd has harnessed that hatred into the top 2 or 3 highest grossing fights ever.
For a guy who many claim is a coward with a boring defensive style and has cherry picked his ass off, his earnings are unbelievable and anyone who can't admire and respect that hustle simply isn't able to get past who Floyd is as a person, fighting skill and boxing related business excellence be damned.

So, let me get this straight, a professional athlete should be criticized for making as much money as possible in his profession?

Wtf?

You must be a socialist.

very simple.

making the most cash for an athletes is important, but aside from the focus on money, there should also be a focus on giving the fans enjoymant and if you dont want to, than be a egoistic bastard and fans will dislike you. i am a fan of exciting boxing, floyd is not able to provide, so i dislike him, as simple as that.

Boxing is a business. FMJ is an ATG at the business. He mastered the art of getting people to watch in hopes of seeing him get his ass whupped. He has managed to accomplish that while not taking substantial punishment (relatively).

I congratulate him for that. I would like him to pass the torch to the next generation in a more optimum manner for the industry that has given him the opportunity to become so successful.

Then y'all should've told Manny to do something besides sit there and posture while getting sniped, I knew this would happen that all of you PacTURDS would come back here crying your pathetic little sour grapes and blaming Floyd for Packy not having the ability to intelligently being able to fight back.

Get over yourselves, no fighter should risk themselves for the purpose of entertaining dumb ass fans who don't understand that boxing is the art of hitting without being hit and its' best Practitioner at the moment is Mayweather.

Not at all, I've seen some spectacular finished basements.

I'm not degrading you. You have done a fine job of demonstrating your grade.
