The WBA are awful, I can't believe they are actually seen as one of the main 4. The boxing world already had too many belts without these lot having 8 at each division.pyenest77 wrote:What a mess. Fair play to Crolla but the WBA really are the worst of all the governing bodies.

Re: Crolla vs Perez
What's this perez's first name. Is it Johan Perez.
Re: Crolla vs Perez
His record suggests he may be quite a 'big' lightweight, and he is clearly a bit of a puncher. But there are only a few names on his record that I am in any way aware of, mainly due to losses to other fighters. He could be quite an unknown, with the bookies currently struggling to split them.
Should be a good fight and a great addition to the card, especially with the future Frampton and Matthews fights that will hopefully come after two wins for Quigg and Crolla.

Re: Crolla vs Perez
Perez is a decent fighter, he fights well whether on the front or back foot, at times he can wait a little too long but he has a good jab and decent if not spectacular power, footwork is decent and he seems to pick his shots well. Did ok against Gamboa when losing widely on points but appeared to lack a little self belief early in the fight and by the time he realised he belonged at that level he was too far behind to make it close on the cards.Naandrew wrote:Not watched Perez ?

However, he improved as the fight went on and his performance against Maicelo was pretty good, although its hard of course to know how far Maicelo is from world title level.
If Crolla can start well and just make Perez uneasy, get off first and make the Colombian ponder his next move etc, he likes to be accurate and get his shots home, you need to be first and then gone, keep him turning and resetting, would be my gameplan, Crolla has fought that sort of fight many times and he needs to pick his time to trade shots, that should be kept to a minimum, he needs to box to win this fight.
If the fight was in the states I would think Perez would be a big favourite, even over here for me its still Perez who starts favourite and if his confidence is not shot by travelling to the UK and facing what will be a pretty hostile crowd, its a very tough fight for Ant, although I really hope he can do it not just because its a great story but because he is a thoroughly nice lad.

Thanks I'll watch a couple of his fights over the next few weeks.GlobalBox wrote:Perez is a decent fighter, he fights well whether on the front or back foot, at times he can wait a little too long but he has a good jab and decent if not spectacular power, footwork is decent and he seems to pick his shots well. Watch the Maicelo and Gamboa fights that will give you a good idea how he fights when on top and when up against it, the odds will be very interesting.Naandrew wrote:Thanks I'll watch a couple of his fights over the next few weeks.GlobalBox wrote:Perez is a decent fighter, he fights well whether on the front or back foot, at times he can wait a little too long but he has a good jab and decent if not spectacular power, footwork is decent and he seems to pick his shots well. Great day for boxing! Eggington vs Foot will be a good one. Easy win for Kovalev although I thought Mohammedi gave Cleverly a hard time. Awkward customer. I am not yet convinced by Bey. He got a shocker of a decision against Vazquez. Shafikov could take that one I reckon.crusader wrote:http://boxrec.com/date_search.php?yyyy=2015&mm=07&dd=18
I'll be watching boxing all day on the 18th. In addition to this card, which is looking good, there is Abraham-Stieglitz IV, Kovalev-Mohammedi, Bey-Shafikov, and many undercard fights to be announced.

Just found odds
Perez 10/11

Re: Crolla vs Perez
Was wondering that myself! The way Limond has been treated is pish poor! Maybe there is something going on behind the scenes but not heard anything.expe wrote:Fights Tyrone Nurse on the undercard for the British title, not sure what's happened to Willie Limond with that one.G0mez wrote:No news on Chris Jenkins? was hoping to see him back in action again.

Ooft! Tight! Would need to punt big to get a decent return on that one! 5 or 10 is my absolute limit lol!Naandrew wrote:Just found odds

Re: Crolla vs Perez
Lomond had developed into a really classy box puncher, its such a shame and a waste of talent, he ought to be in there with the other good names. It must be really difficult to keep focused and fit, people like Limond deserve far more respect.Stuarty30 wrote:Was wondering that myself! The way Limond has been treated is pish poor! Re: Crolla vs Perez
Vacated so that Jenkins could fight for it, in the understanding that he would get a shot when he returned, Jenkins then gets injured, now we have Jenkins v Nurse for the vacant title. Even if Limond isn't fighting for it there's several other fighters ahead of them in the queue, Catterall, Ryan, Hibbert, Saunders would all be more deserving of a British title fight.Stuarty30 wrote:Was wondering that myself! Re: Crolla vs Perez
I've seen quite a bit of Perez mostly on ESPN FNF series,I'm sure he fought first fight of the season against Jonathan Maicelo who he beat well,he gave Gamboa a decent fight too, looking toward to it I just hope it isn't a case of too much too soon for Crolla

They're all ahead of Jenkins, but I'd say only Ryan was clearly ahead of Nurse.expe wrote:Even if Limond isn't fighting for it there's several other fighters ahead of them in the queue, Catterall, Ryan, Hibbert, Saunders would all be more deserving of a British title fight.

Crolla jumping straight into the deep end with this. Don't fancy his chances here TBH.
Re: Crolla vs Perez
I really dont understand how this fight can happen I like Crolla but he isnt ranked by the WBA and obviously hasnt done anything to appear in their next rankings when released?

Re: Crolla vs Perez
Perez is a very solid, strong, fringe world level guy. Crolla is a domestic level guy. Perez should be priced at like 1/4 for this. No matter how far the odds shorten for Perez, it'll be good value right up until fight time.
