Post by jezzamundo »

BWH Rankings as of 13 June 2015:

Champion: Wladimir Klitschko
1. Alexander Povetkin
2. Tyson Fury
3. Deontay Wilder
4. Kubrat Pulev
5. Bryant Jennings
6. Vyacheslav Glazkov
7. Carlos Takam
8. Bermane Stiverne
9. Tony Thompson
10. Dereck Chisora
11. Artur Szpilka
12. Steve Cunningham
13. Chris Arreola
14. Ruslan Chagaev
15. Anthony Joshua

Topic A - How are the rankings affected by Artur Szpilka's RTD3 win over Manuel Quezada?

My vote: Szpilka to #10, Quezada remains unranked.

Topic B - How are the rankings affected by Carlos Takam's KO5 win over Michael Sprott?

My vote: Takam remains at #7, Sprott remains unranked.

Topic C - How are the rankings affected by Deontay Wilder's KO9 win over Eric Molina?

My vote: Wilder remains at #3, Molina remains unranked.

Note: This topic is for voting on the rankings of Szpilka, Quezada, Takam, Sprott, Wilder and Molina. Posting your own top 15 will not count as a vote. Please cast your vote in the manner than I have done above.

Topic A - Szpilka to #10, Quezada remains unranked.

Topic B - Takam remains at #7, Sprott remains unranked.

Topic C - Wilder down to #5, Molina remains unranked.

Considering the quality of his opponent, Wilder did not look as good as (for example) Jennings in his last fight and so he should be dropped down.

My vote: Szpilka to #10, Quezada remains unranked.

My vote: Takam to #6, Sprott remains unranked.

My vote: Wilder remains at #3, Molina remains unranked.

Notes: Activity should be rewarded even if you beat a Quezada and a Sprott

Demoting Wilder when he won by KO and won almost every round is just plain silly.

Why didn't you vote to move Takam up a spot then?

I'm not too sure about Wilder sliding down... He did have a successful title defense at the weekend... And we do have to go by the results...

Thanks for pointing out my mistake. Takam to 6. I'll correct it.

Szpilka remains at #11, Quezada remains unranked.
Takam to #6, Sprott remains unranked.
Wilder remains at #3, Molina remains unranked.

I have to move Takam ahead of Glazkov, because Takam is just better than Glazkov. Takam beat Tony Thompson, Glazkov robbed Cunningham. I want to demote Wilder after his most recent outing, but I don't want to move him down an entire slot, because I'm not sure that he's worse than Pulev or Jennings, so I have no real recourse. I'm just glad that Wilder is currently below Povetkin and Fury, and that he is most definitely remaining below them after this vote is tallied, so I'm fine with that. After Jennings's very competitive showing with Wlad and Pulev getting flattened, I kind of wish it were possible to have Jennings > Wilder > Pulev, but our voting practices do not make that possible.

Having fought unranked opponents, I vote to move each guy up one spot just because they actually fought somebody. How lame is that? This is what boxing has become.

I think the standard way of doing it would be to make them joint 3rd rather than 4th.

Thats really untidy. I would suggest to use vote average to break the tie.

You're right, that's the way I've done it in the past, changing it now.

It has happened several times before and will only last until one of Wilder or Pulev fights again, no biggie.
