He's on my top 10 at cruiser. Anyone in the top 10 of a weight division is close to a world title shot.
That's what I'd class as fringe world class. He's done more at cruiserweight than Bellew.

Yes, he does seem a bit high.

7 of those below him have at least one loss in the last 12 months. Walsh has kept winning and he's sneaked ahead of the pack.

How can you have him top 10 in a division with Lebedev, Drozd, Glowacki, Huck, Wlodarcyzk, Hernandez, Afolabi, Ramirez, Makabu, Kalenga, Kudyrashov, Usyk, Chakhiev and Arslan in it?

It seems that most people would have Selby higher. I just don't rate him as highly as most.

Fair enough.

That's a bit high for me. He did very well against Perez, but Perez is not a proven world class fighter, so beating him doesn't mean that much to me.

Fury has yet to fight at World level and Groves has twice and lost both times.
Cunningham and Chisora were world level opponents.

Froch was P4P level. He was leagues above Gradovich as far being a credible opponent goes.
davie wrote:Selby has a belt and although a world title isn't the be all and end all, he looked every bit the world class operator in his bout.
After Groves and Fury fight their upcoming bouts I may change my stance, but for the moment I feel Selby has earned the right to be considered among the very best British fighters just now.
And this is coming from someone who thought Selby was all show and wouldn't make it at the top level. I'm pleased to admit I'm wrong and my opinion of Lee has changed drastically over his last 2 bouts
Selby beat a weak champion controversially. I wasn't very impressed.
davie wrote:I can't fathom how Stuart Hall and Paul Smith rank so highly, perhaps it stick in my craw that both men have been given repeated undeserved chances and proven time and again, with out doubt to be quite comfortably below world level.
No, they have both done well.

Don't worry I know that I'm in the minority and ppl might find it deluded but I seriously rate Ovill at cruiser.
I also rate a couple if his wins as better wins recently than some on the list domestically and globally.

Afolabi to me always seems a couple if fights from becoming a journeyman.
Ramirez only high ranking is due to his Afolabi win which I don't rate that highly.
Kalenga I rate similar to Mckenzie but he's got the recent loss.
Arslan I feel is slowly in decline.
Kudyrashov has a good record on paper but I feel Ovill has better wins and I didn't think that much of Kudyrashovs last performance when stepped up slightly.

I also haven't seen many fighters improve as surprisingly and rapidly as Ovill. Despite his record and age id say hd is currently at his prime.

He's not fringe world class though. Most of McKenzie's recent wins are against English title level opponents.

Scott was fringe world class and his win over Johnson is arguably better than any win that McKenzie has.

No, but his recent win against Coyle is as good as any of McKenzie's recent wins and ability-wise he looks levels above.

McKenzie recently struggled to beat Askin who is only at English title level. He is not a top 10 cruiserweight and he has not done enough to suggest that he is fringe world or European class either. I don't think there is anything wrong with him being outside of the top 30.

He was born, raised and started boxing in London for one thing.

Now would you kindly let it go and stop tormenting me?

I wasn't tormenting you, I just want to know why And Lee was on the list. As I've said before, I didn't know, now I do.

You say Mckenzie has lost at domestic class plenty of times. That was a long time ago mostly in a different weight class at short notice.
Ovill has completly cleaned out the division domestically.
In my opinion Askin is a better level fighter than Malik Scott. I'd go as far to say Malik Scott is one of the most overrated fighters of the modern era.
Stuart Hall isn't good enough to win a British title at the moment and is probably the worst British world champion of all time.
Also potential shouldn't be included in rankings. Campbell gets in on the back of 1 fight when Ovill has beaten fighters of similar stature over the his last 3 domestic fights.

Didn't notice he'd put Andy Lee in.
Irish Andy Lee in a British top 30 is too dumb to comprehend.
France isn't that far away maybe we can throw Soro in there aswell.

He hasn't sorted out Afolabi or Bellew, so he hasn't cleaned out the domestic division at all.

You are very wrong.

Who wouldn't Hall be able to beat for the vacant British title?

I consider Coyle to be better than everyone that McKenzie has beaten recently and he beat him very clearly.
