He was found wanting at world level because he too often ended up frozen stiff against the ropes, like Han Solo glazed in carbonite hung up on the wall of Jabba's debauched lair.

Instead of Boba Fett it was Iron Mike who scared the bejesus out of him.
That's true, he was a rabbit punching bully.

Sad Cornish has to invade England to get a fight with Joshua. Would've been better to whip AJ in Glasgow in front of thirty or fourty thousand Scots fans. He's 21-0 and Joshua is 13-0. Both really big men who can punch. We'll see how they react when they get hit. I'm pulling for the highlander and there are plenty Scots and Scots-Canadians who will be doing likewise.

The unfortunate thing is that despite his size Cornish isn't a puncher and I don't believe that he even dropped chinny Larry O.

He could have beat Price at the same time and had a wet room built.

Hard one to predict this eh! Still say was stopped too early though the result was not in doubt.

I don't buy that. Bruno busted up and knocked over plenty. Your ability to exercise some self-control and to not whack a man that is in a prone position does not, to me, say that you can't fight at the highest level.

I've just seen a video on facebook entitled "Joshua's Awesome Ringwalk" or something..... in it, he's talking on a massive, elevated screen saying he's going to become the Commonwealth Champion tonight. I didn't see a screen with a personal message from Cornish. I wonder if Cornish was given that option. What a disgusting way to disrespect your opponent before a punch has been exchanged. If I'd been watching, I'd have been rooting for the "Highlander" to plant one straight on his mush and end it. Best laid plans and all that.....

It then went on to show that Anthony Joshua can count to 12 in reverse, whilst showcasing his "reel". What a thoroughly unimaginative and depressing little spectacle that was. Tacky, tacky, tacky. I wonder if another Mike Tyson should ever rock up in his saloon, will he be showing litte "sweet nothings" on the monitor then? hmmmm, take a guess.

Well, Cornish lost. Landed one or two shots but didn't use his size advantage a la Klitschko. Definitely needs an upgrade in the trainer department. His people should import an experienced American or bring him over the pond to re-work his style before putting him back in the ring. It was obvious he was set up to fail against England's New Hope.

On reflection, that may be the reason the bout wasn't put on in a Scottish stadium in front of thousands of maniacal Scots. Hope you didn't stay up to late for it.

Me and most folk I know (inc a couple of ex pros) were all wanting Joshua to win and I think everyone predicted the 1st round. All Scotsmen. Back to wee Tommys horrible all male 800 bucks a table draconian dinner shows for the big fella!

I see not much has changed over the centuries. There will always be Scots who secretly wish they were Engllishmen. Same over here. Canadians who would switch flags in a heartbeat to be Americans. I'm not one of them. The question I would ask is "Does Gary Cornish have the natural talent to be crafted into a real contender or is he simply a side-show attraction?"

He's neither a side show attraction or able to be a contender; he's a big and athletic heavyweight who, after AJ has moved on up, may be able to get into the mix again at British Title level. He'll do as well as his ability allows and will supplement his day job wages with fight purses, the same as 90% of other boxers do.
