He was found wanting at world level because he too often ended up frozen stiff against the ropes, like Han Solo glazed in carbonite hung up on the wall of Jabba's debauched lair.

I'm going to open a can of worms here , but I think the hitting opponants whilst they are down thing shows AJ has real spite if he needs to and when he steps up in class will hold him in good stead , not saying it's right or anything but you never saw that sort of thing from the likes of Frank Bruno , he was too " nice" at times , nice to see a british heavyweight with that real killer instinct .

I don't buy that. Bruno busted up and knocked over plenty. Your ability to exercise some self-control and to not whack a man that is in a prone position does not, to me, say that you can't fight at the highest level.

I've just seen a video on facebook entitled "Joshua's Awesome Ringwalk" or something..... in it, he's talking on a massive, elevated screen saying he's going to become the Commonwealth Champion tonight. I didn't see a screen with a personal message from Cornish. I wonder if Cornish was given that option. What a disgusting way to disrespect your opponent before a punch has been exchanged. If I'd been watching, I'd have been rooting for the "Highlander" to plant one straight on his mush and end it. Best laid plans and all that.....

I see not much has changed over the centuries. There will always be Scots who secretly wish they were Engllishmen. Same over here. Canadians who would switch flags in a heartbeat to be Americans. I'm not one of them. The question I would ask is "Does Gary Cornish have the natural talent to be crafted into a real contender or is he simply a side-show attraction?"

He's neither a side show attraction or able to be a contender; he's a big and athletic heavyweight who, after AJ has moved on up, may be able to get into the mix again at British Title level. He'll do as well as his ability allows and will supplement his day job wages with fight purses, the same as 90% of other boxers do.
