He's not a bum, he's a professional fighter with an awful lot of heart.

Not on Chudinov's level, no. But a good pro nonetheless.

You're right. He got to this point in his career because he's a bad boxer and shouldn't be in the sport.

I don't know why I bother sometimes.

Dude this is like saying Ronald Hearns or Harry Joe Yorgey are "good". Buglioni has beaten absolutely no one. How these guys get title shots is beyond amazing and shows how broken the system is.

Of course they are "good". You don't get even to that point in the sport by being "bad" at boxing.

"Good" compared to the elite fighters in the world in the weight class? No, they are worse. But there's a frigging huge amount of nuance between guys like Yorgey and Buglioni and a guy who's "Not good".

I don't know why I'm arguing with someone who calls a guy risking his life in the ring for our entertainment a "bum" anyway.

Fedor Chudinov 13 0 0
vs
Frank Buglioni 17 1 1
Super Middleweight
WBA World super middleweight title

Chudinov won by UD
Chudinov down after the bell
He got this shot because he is a popular fighter
He is entertaining and fans like him. He was brave, maybe a little too much in the 12th

Is Buglioni your brother in law or something?

I'm talking world level here. That's how I judge fighters. I don't come here to talk about club fighters.

We obviously have different perspectives.

Bottom line is guys like Buglioni should not be fighting for world titles. Neither should Duhaupas. Or Eric Molina. I'm speaking toward the STRUCTURE of boxing. That broken thing.

This wasn't really a title shot, since Chudinov isn't really a champion. He is the WBA Super Middleweight "Regular" Champion.
Andre Ward is the WBA Super Middleweight "Super" Champion, meaning he is the real belt holder.

Then address that structure, don't call professional fighters "bums".

I've addressed that plenty. At world level Buglioni is a bum. He's a high caliber club fighter.

Ugggh, you're sapping my strength here.

Fine, "Bum" is a fine word to describe a man who risks his health fighting other men to entertain you. And who is better at it than hundreds of others in his particular division.

That's right, that's perfectly apt.

complete lack of respect being shown here for a guy that got a shot and took a beating like a man, try lacing them up yourself mate to get a bit of perspective.

I've got no problem with him getting this shot. With it being only the 'regular' title.

He showed great heart. I haven't seen someone take that much of a beating in a British ring coincidentally since Chudinovs brother.

I was surprised how Fresh Frank looked afterwards.

He's been in two FOTY candidates this year in this one and the Markham fight.

Hopefully see him spend a couple of years at domestic level now. A Markham rematch for the commonwealth would be a great place to start.

I could see frank fighting for the European belt he's not world class or the best In Europe by anyways but what is euro level now the better European fighters are after world titles leaving the European belt for the likes of smith or frank to fight for it

Current EBU champ is Mohoumadi before that Groves and before that Rebrasse. I'd definitely put Buglioni in there with Mohoumadi or Rebrasse and think he'd have a half decent chance. Is this not Euro level??

Sergey Khomitsky is a European level type of fighter and he beat Buglioni easily.

You might think that he can compete with those fighters, but he hasn't proved that he is that level in the ring.

Buglioni is at English title contender level.

would a comparison with matthew hatton be fair ? another gutsy fighter short on natural ability that needed a bit of luck and some careful matchmaking.

I think ive seen every one of Buglioni's fights and he's always value for money,he's at his best when putting on the pressure but thats also when he's most vulnrable because his defence is almost non existent,he needs to learn to pick his spots better, the Collins seem to have him fighting within himself, not just the Chudinov fight, they want to change his style completely instead of tweaking it and his defence is still poor, luckily he has a solid chin and a massive set of testes because if he didint then the Khomitsky KO loss wouldnt be the only 1 on his ledger

I enjoyed it. It was non stop action.
Buglioni threw a lot of leather aswell.
There was tension and a bit of drama. It wouldn't win my FOTY but it would be around the number 10 mark of the ones I've seen.
