TBH I think a lot wrote him off for the Galarza loss where he was caught by a huge shot. Prior to that there was talk of him being one to watch. Certainly looks a level above Smith in terms of overall skill but I do see Smith getting back into this in the second half.

Smith starting to land more in 4. Thompsons movement a little bit slower. 2-2

I know its early but the only way Smith will win is by a stoppage.

Very good 5 for Thompson his best round yet I think. Smith never offered much at all there. 3-2

Well done Smith, got to say that he didn't look world class, but did what he needed to, turned it up when he had to and did the job.

I thought Thompson hit a lot harder. I don't think Liam Smith has that belt by the end of next year though. Especially if Andrade wants is back.

Thompson's stoppage win over Adams is misleading when taken on its own. He's an arm-puncher without much pop.
