Boxrec automated scoring of lower weight classes is way off compared to higher weight classes. Something needs to be done about that.

You might want to put some more little yellow faces in there just in case ......nothing shows boxing knowledge like a smiley faceClivePatrickLyons wrote:Who has dominated their weight class for over 10 year's Wlad besides Pacman who's been there done that[P4P no.1]the rest on the list are still puppy's :?? let me know when you find a world champ in the same boat undefeated for over a decade when was his [Wlad] last close fight :??

Yeah I don't really understand that. Guys below around featherweight with great records seem to have to do way more, and even if they do, it seems like they can't climb up as high as the bigger fighters, the way it's set up.ikorolev wrote:Boxrec automated scoring of lower weight classes is way off compared to higher weight classes. Maybe there's a reasonable reason for that algorithm, but when guys like Gonzalez and Inoue are ranked 25th and 44th respectively, I think it's something to wonder about.
Re: Boxrec forum's official p4p no1
It's because people move up in weight. Like, imagine there's 4,500 total boxrec rating points in the Flyweight division and there's 4,500 total boxrec rating points in the Super Flyweight division. Then imagine a Flyweight with a boxrec rating of 500 moves-up to Super Flyweight. Now there's 4,000 total boxrec rating points in the Flyweight division and 5,000 total boxrec rating points in the Super Flyweight division. Now imagine that happening on a broader scale all of the time for over a century. So rating points are going to pool upward to heavier divisions, those divisions are larger mountains of rating points, and the kings of those divisions are going to have higher ratings.Bobbyptsd wrote:Yeah I don't really understand that. It is a good explanation, but it means that the algorithm is bad.Lackeos wrote:It's because people move up in weight. I always wondered why so many welter weights found their way into a high p4p ranking spot without doing much to earn it (see Kell Brook).
