Great fight. Proper 50/50. I'm siding with Linares.
Just think he can catch him coming in. I can see Linares getting hurt as usual but still holding on to win a close decision.

I like this fight. Linares should outbox him for the most part, but Zlaticanin will be dangerous throughout.

Why isn't Zlaticanin ranked in the Boxrec European rankings?
Or is he & I missed him
Or is he & I missed him
Re: Linares vs Zlaticanin WBC/RING magazine lightweight title
Good fight, Zlaticanin is a dangerous puncher and Linares is a very clever boxer.
I feel Zlaticanin needs to catch him early because it takes Linares a few rounds to get into a fight usually, but once he is in his rhythm he is very difficult to beat.

Linares can be a slow starter but interestingly he has NEVER completed a 12 rounder. The closest he came was against DeMarco, where he was stopped in round 11. That's the only time he has EVER been beyond 10 rounds.

Brilliant fight on paper. Zlati via KO or Linares on points seem the sane bets.

Good fight although rating Zlaticanin #2 based on that one win over Burns is somewhat dubious.
Re: Linares vs Zlaticanin WBC/RING magazine lightweight title
How the fornicate is this for the Ring title?
Re: Linares vs Zlaticanin WBC/RING magazine lightweight title
Isn't his ranking also based on his win over the undefeated Ivan Redkach?jujigatame wrote:Good fight although rating Zlaticanin #2 based on that one win over Burns is somewhat dubious.

Because as I said they somehow have Zlaticanin #2 at 135, ahead of Flanagan and Shafikov.expe wrote:How the eff is this for the Ring title?
They also have Sharif Bogere at #4 which I can only assume is because of his unconvincing win over Beltran 4 and a half years ago.

I guess so, but Redkach hadn't actually fought anyone decent yet. He was undefeated but untested.Taansend wrote:Isn't his ranking also based on his win over the undefeated Ivan Redkach?jujigatame wrote:Good fight although rating Zlaticanin #2 based on that one win over Burns is somewhat dubious.
Re: Linares vs Zlaticanin WBC/RING magazine lightweight title
True though Zlaticanin destroyed him. Even though Burns seemed fairly shot v Zlaticanin he did do well against Figueroa. Dejan deserves credit for that win Scotland's a tough place to fight as the away fighter.jujigatame wrote:I guess so, but Redkach hadn't actually fought anyone decent yet. Can't see how he is 2nd but looking at who's at the weight I'd say he's around top 10 got a solid look about him and he would give all the others a tough fight.

Oh he's legit for sure, just not sure #2 is warranted for him right now. Maybe somewhere in the middle of the top 10 would be more appropriate.
Re: Linares vs Zlaticanin WBC/RING magazine lightweight title
Interesting to see if he can step it up. Certainly looks to have some telnet, but Linares is a battling champ. I am going for a successful UD defence
Re: Linares vs Zlaticanin WBC/RING magazine lightweight title
Who promotes Linares?expe wrote:How the eff is this for the Ring title?
Re: Linares vs Zlaticanin WBC/RING magazine lightweight title
So his ranking is based on beating an ex World Champion & an undefeated fighter who had beaten a couple of ranked fighters.jujigatame wrote:I guess so, but Redkach hadn't actually fought anyone decent yet. Not what I would call dubious, especially when you consider that there are four (plus) titles.

The win over Burns was a close win. And this was after Crawford dismantled him and he got a gift draw against Beltran.Taansend wrote:

Redkach did not beat anyone "ranked". At least not ranked by anyone meaningful. His record was 100% nobodies.
Zlaticanin is good. I just don't think he's the #2 guy in the division.
Re: Linares vs Zlaticanin WBC/RING magazine lightweight title
Nor do most people but that's not how the ranking system works. He beat a recently dethroned champion & then beat an undefeated prospect. That's why he's ranked so highly. That's how it works.jujigatame wrote:The win over Burns was a close win. And this was after Crawford dismantled him and he got a gift draw against Beltran.Taansend wrote:

It's not based on what you or I think. It would be nice if it was but it's not.
Re: Linares vs Zlaticanin WBC/RING magazine lightweight title
The lightweight division doesn't have standout fighters at the moment in my opinion. I don't have much of an issue with Linares being at #1 or Zlaticanin being at #2, and The Ring typically awards their title to the winners of these types of bouts.
That said, I thought that Zlaticanin was ranked something like 7th (I would've had him higher) even after stopping Redkach, and if that's true I'm not sure how he climbed so many spots without another win; were there that many fighters above him who lost or moved divisions?
