Will De Mori become "Rocky" and Haye the "Ivan Drago", or will he just "float like bee, sting like a butterfly"?

Re: Mark De Mori
My post was in relation to a 1st round KO. I'd think Mark would have more likelyhood of a getting 1st round KO. Personally I don't see Haye coming out after 3 and a bit years out guns blazing.Redback Rasta wrote:You can't wear your heart on your jaw. We don't at this stage know what kind of shape and preparedness Haye will be in, but I anticipate he will wear Mark down for at least a handful of rounds before pouncing.

Once Haye realizes he is fighting someone with little t-rex arms, who is talking about going for the "shoulder-dislocation-shot" against a guy who's not even a tall heavy, Haye will decide when to end it. Pretty much whenever he wants to.Redback Rasta wrote:I disagree 'it won't last long either way'.Totalpac wrote:My post was in relation to a 1st round KO. Obviously Mark knows he can't fight real heavies.
Last 11 fights;
6"1, Cruiser, Cruiser, 6"1, 6"0, 6"4 (21-29 record), 6"0, Cruiser, 6"0, 6"3 (22-30 record), Cruiser
etc, etc ad infinitum

Saw a photo of Haye & Demori standing side by side yesterday. Their arms looked to be of a similar length. by the way, Haye has six pins in one of his shoulders.
What do you think Demori's reach is?

Haye's reach is listed as 78 inches. Nobody seems to care enough about de Mori to have listed his. But I'd suggest it is a few inches less than Haye's.Brute wrote:Saw a photo of Haye & Demori standing side by side yesterday. Re: Mark De Mori
Haye is 1.91m in height while de Mori comes in at 1.88 but admits he will not be able to use his reach, but the great man said this about his reach for the stars:
So there it is, he is probally a couple of "cms" shorter in the reach.“There is only one strategy and that’s pressure, I cannot use my reach and dance I must engage,” said de Mori.
“Sport is about skill, but also there is always a way to equal the score with power,”
“Every man can be broken with power,”
De Mori, 33, is hoping his sturdy and widely built frame will present a threat for Haye, 35, who has not fought in almost three and a half years.
Although Haye (26-2, 24 KOs) holds a slight height and reach advantage over the Australian, de Mori doesn’t see this as a disadvantage.
“I am as wide as I am tall,” he explained. “I have never been able to rely on reach but what I find is my power is more effective against smaller boxers,”

Re: Mark De Mori
Not everybody's arms are in the exact same proportion to their height.
That's why for the purpose of boxing the fighter's reach is measured.
It would be an absolutely pointless exercise measuring reach if it was a direct proportion of height wouldn't it

That is exactly why he took the Haye fight. He's scared of the giants.
Haye is short enough and light enough for De Mori to take the payday and hope for the best.

Because, by his own admission, de Mori has short arms:Brute wrote:Haye is only an inch taller than Demori. Why would his reach be that much more?Like a Boss wrote:Haye's reach is listed as 78 inches. Re: Mark De Mori
The fact we can't even find De Mori's reach listed anywhere is a sure sign he doesn't want it public? Most heavies on Boxrec list it....Like a Boss wrote:Because, by his own admission, de Mori has short arms:Brute wrote:Haye is only an inch taller than Demori. I'm gonna guess 72" until someone from team De Mori tells me otherwise
Re: Mark De Mori
I've stood side by side with de Mori, I think you are pretty close to the reach of 72 but it may be even lower. Mark has wide back & shoulders which seem to deceptively give him a longer reach. IMO from the youtube videos of his fights this seems to be case.lowlefthand wrote:The fact we can't even find De Mori's reach listed anywhere is a sure sign he doesn't want it public? Re: Mark De Mori
Tall men usually have a reach greater than their height. Demori is 6'2"tall, reach is wing tip to wing tip. How would broad shoulders shorten his reaCH?

Re: Mark De Mori
de Mori has short arms. Says so himself. Time to move on.
Re: Mark De Mori
Sorry Brute I should have worded my post better, I meant because reach factors in the width of the back and shoulders as well, a fighter with short arms but wide shoulders may have a deceptively longer reach then what people think.Brute wrote:Tall men usually have a reach greater than their height. And after watching the videos of Marks fights you can see his jab works against taller opponents as a jab not just as a distance finder(As we see with short arm fighters). Will this fool Haye? I guess we will have to find out on Jan 16th.
Re: Mark De Mori
Inactivity may hurt Haye. Three and a half years without a fight is not good preparation.
