Bit harsh; Perez went 12 and was competitive against Gamboa - that makes him pretty near world class in my book.

Smith gets my vote purely because he's fought "nobody anywhere near world class".
It was Gamboa's first outing at lightweight. Perez was a sacrificial lamb who'd fought nobody before that. Don't get me wrong he put up a good showing but I don't rate a guy as world class for being a plucky loser.

How would Crolla fare against Gamboa ? For me he'd lose a wide decision.

Agreed, I'm a fan of Crolla but Gamboa of a couple of years ago would probably win.

Really never rated Perez felt after the first fight said Kevin Mitchell would have beaten him and against Flanagan would have been a mismatch.

Haskins has been British Commonwealth not only at Bantam but also Super Fly, European champion twice (2012 and 2015) weather or not you like his style you can't take that away from him, beat a class Japanese fighter for the World title that many said would beat hastens with ease, i think he's earnt his spot..

No disrespect to Jimmy Kelly but that was a truly awful opponent for a world title fight and I fear BJS will be fed a whole host of soft defences too.

Agree completely with the above. I'm happy to let their performances in the ring do the talking. Fair play to the lot of them, they have done something I will never achieve.

On subject of BJS in his interviews on Youtube he is always very down to earth in that he frequently acknowledges he isn't a P4P great, but fair play to the guy he is a modern W/Champ, and I'm looking forward to continuing to get behind him. I think a mooted Cotto bout could be a great match up for both fighters. BJS has acknowledged stamina issues, and stated he has in the past bulked up on junk food and then in losing the weight it has had a detrimental effect on his stamina. Whether better nutrition is a total solution of course remains to be seen, as his reasoning behind slowing down against Eubank was that he couldn't get 100% focused on the prep for that fight due to the Eubank will they/won't they Circus, which again has an air of plausibility about it. Either way, no-one is kidding themselves that BJS is a P4P top 3, but I'm personally very much looking forward to seeing how he does as a World Champ.

Just as a laugh, off the top of my heid I can do:
Fury - WBA, WBO Heavy
DeGale - IBF SuperMid
Saunders - WBO Middle
Smith - WBO LightMid
Brook - IBF Welter
Flanagan - WBO Light
Crolla - WBA Light
Selby - IBF Feather ??
Frampton - IBF SuperBant
Quigg - WBA SuperBant
McDonnell - WBA Bant ?? Is this an intern/pishy version
Haskins - IBF Bant

On reflection I'm suprised I've got so many though not sure about some of the Sky guys.

The above just made me realise how many decent "world" level guys are around just now. I could see any of the below being in a world title fight and have a 25% chance or so of winning:
Haye, Joshua, Bellew, McKenzie, Cleverly, Smith, Groves, Murray, Eubank, Khan, Matthews, Mitchell (at a push), Warrington, Smith (all of em really barring Paul!) and Butler

Bollocks how you can you call Fury a so called champion? He beat Klit. What does he have to do? Murder Wilder, Haye and Wlad with 1-hand behind his back at the same time?

Does Ola still hold the IBO strap? If so, we may as well put him on the champion's list as the IBO is about as respected as the WBA 'regular' title and he is more proven at world level than most guys on the list.

Hi Gents,

I'd go for Liam Smith: very fortunate man. I doubt he'd have gone anywhere near a WBO shot if Andrade hadn't got stripped of the title (in fact, didn't he turn it down saying he wasn't ready...... only to change his mind a few days/weeks later when the title became vacant?)

Thanks

Who are you addressing here? Don't think anyone has doubted Fury's credibility as champion?

Good point. I keep forgetting about him as he's never been based over here. High quality operator though :TU:
