Why?

How?

Who is paying that amount of money to see GGG?
HBO's recent push to create the next PPV star is pathetic.
I bet Golovkin takes a pay cut in order to buy a belt from Saunders. Also, HBO may be investing into that belt in order for Canelo vs Golovkin fight to be for undisputed championship which would help promotion.
Help promotion 0%.

GGG doesn't sell PPV to anyone Canelo doesn't already sell PPV to.
This fight will be lucky to do 600K, which will have to cover the huge purses both fighters are expecting.

nobody in the legit top 10-15 is a soft defense for saunders. other than one round vs lee he did nothing
and he was also lucky to get by eubank. those are not division kings. those ARE the softies one would expect
from a titlist. 50/50 he loses his title in his first defense against any legit name anyone can mention,
and he would make a fraction of what he could make for losing it to GGG. if he survivies the first 50/50,
his next fight will also be 50/50, and losing to one of those guys tears up the lottery ticket he is holding.
why feel sorry for a guy who is holding a lottery ticket? lee is probably pissing himself for losing his title
to saunders for a fraction of what that title was worth vs at least 3 other guys in the division. he'll never
get that money back and it will cost him and his family forever. saunders is now in the same position.

It would be if it happens, plus Eubank currently holds the "Interim" WBA title, so it would be a unification (of sorts). I'd be highly surprised if both men don't make at least £1 million for fighting each other. People in the UK are getting very excited about it.

The fight was originally due to take place in the Gaelic Grounds in County Limerick, which holds over 49,800 capacity - it would've been a massive outdoor event but they decided to have the fight in the winter, so the venue no longer became a viable option.

They moved it, because ticket sales were bad.

That is bullsh!t. How much ppvs Canelo sells depends on who he fights. He would likely sell 3-4 times more against Golovkin than against Angulo or Lara, and if Golovkin has 3 belts and the fight becomes for undisputed championship, it would sell even more.

600,000 buys at roughly 20 pounds a pop (conservative given the price of U.S PPV seems near the 50 dollar mark, is 12,000,000 UK - or about 16,000,000 dollars. More than enough to cover the purses I'd have thought, especially factoring in live gate and subsidiary money coming in, merchandising, money for showing fight on delay, or in non PPV territories, advertising, sponsors etc.

That's not what I heard. Though I didn't plan on going to it, I'm not a fan of either fighter, really.

I'm not happy questioning Saunders bottle, but something tells me thoughts of fighting Golovkin keep him up at night. I've watched enough video clips of his interviews to tell me he wants no part of GGG.
