Jack clearly outworked Groves by just enough to retain his world title in their televised encounter. Groves down in first. Without the knockdown, the scoring would not have changed the split winner.
Who wrote this? How can you clearly outwork someone when they have thrown 215 more punches than you?

Groves acted tired in the second half of the fight, so his punches seemingly become invisible to most people. It's crazy. Open your fricking eyes!

I don't think his stamina is bad. He's just a drama queen who feels the need to overreact to everything.

He's a bit tired so he goes all floppy and sulks, he gets punched hard so he drops to the canvas etc.

this point has much to it, IMO. i noted the 'floppy' body language around round 6/7 of the first Froch fight and thought a TKO loss was sure to follow from that point on. he quite visibly starts to feel sorry for himself when he begins to tire, IMO.

Im a fan of Groves but i have thought for sometime that he is a little mentally weak. Its the mind that usually causes the body to quit.

I understand that he is quite a bright lad and quite a deep thinker. Something which I feel generally doesnt go so well with trying to a top sportsman.

Very interesting, and actually Groves/Sauerland have a point there. Giving the number 7 ranked fighter a chance to fight for a shot at Jack is poor form if the number 3 ranked fighter is available.

Would love to see Callum v George.
Yeah i agree. Saying that though, at this point in time, I think Smith probably flattens groves. I'm still not 100 % sold on Callum but even still I think he'd have too much in the locker.

I think the Dirrells and Alexander Brand being passed up is more interesting than Groves not getting a final eliminator. He was Jack's last mandatory, don't see why he deserves a final eliminator, regardless of the rankings, he should have to wait in line until someone else has had a shot first. When the fight was made he still hadn't returned to the ring after losing to Jack and when he did, it wasn't at super middleweight.

It's an intriguing fight, and a real crossroads fight. I'm a big fan of Callum, I like the way he boxes and he carries good power, but he's faced nobody that has done anything like what Groves has done yet, so it would be a big step up.

I'd be incined to look at this in a similar way to Brook/Khan, either Callum stops George or loses comfortably on points, as Groves is a better boxer for me, especially working behind his jab.

Maybe he just has to work on his poker face.
Groves has poor stamina & that's why I believe it will be his undoing every time he steps up to world class level.
And not the greatest of chins it seems.
Why does it seem he does not have a great chin? I think people make too much of this. If I remember rightly he has only been down 3 times and 1 of them was a brutal KO that would have done the same to anybody. When he fought Anderson he was still a boy in boxing terms and physically still developing yet still got up and stopped him. Jack was a flash knockdown in the 1st rd which caught him cold.

The shot that put him down in the Jack fight looked average to me. Especially on a fresh Groves in the first round.

Not wanting to court controversy here, I how that who ever he fights next beats him. I am sick of groves constant spouting that he is world class, and then blaming his trainer when he loses. What will the next excuse be? Will it be because he is ginger, will it be because he is bald, or will he finally accept that he has his very own failings. He would gain so much more respect by admitting that he does have issues and that he needs to build again before calling for another world title shot. He needs to fix the stamina issues followed quickly by the mental frailties which tend to get in his way. Fix these and he has a fighters chance at a world strap. Fail to fix these and he will remain a European level fighter at best. At this point I feel that degale and smith would end any future world title shots. Take on bute and make a show of it rather than the sack of skin that he played with on Saturday. Build build build. Accept your failings and move on George. You might just find you can do it.

Bute would have a very good chance of beating Abraham and Jack.

Why fight Bute instead of a world champion?

Fighting bute without the pressure of a title being on the line might do wonders for George mentally. He was pretty close against froch the first time round but the stamina lost him the fight. He thought he had already beaten froch in the second fight and came a cropper. He was mouthing off about knocking jack out and lost yet again in a world title shot. Some called it close but I was not so sure. I feel he needs to build by beating 2 or 3 people of decent calibre before calling out all of the current crop of champions.

I don't see how fighting a very tough opponent for no title is less pressure than doing the same for a title.

It makes little sense for either man when they can both get world title shots against a similar calibre of opponent.

Groves v Murray or Smith next. All parties have expressed an interest so hopefully something can be arranged.

Nothing controversial about what you have said.

This is on the money & it pretty much sums up what I think about George Groves.

Rogan Murdoch is somehow semi-famous for a fight that didn't even happen, how have you listed him and Blackledge instead of Murray and Chudinov?
Those two are far more likely imo

Not sure i would make GG a favourite still. Sturm is a smart guy, even on the slide he is difficult to beat.
