True unfortunately. You can't really cure a mental illness. Drugs and counselling etc can help you to learn to cope and control it to a certain extent.mimmy123 wrote:Judah Ben Fur wrote:This is just about the most ignorant statement ive ever read on these pages. Please dont think I was calling or referring to Frank as in a bad way. This was from experience of mental illness and how people suffer for many many years or for the rest of their lives. I knoww hat im talking about here and did not intend it to mean otherwise, maybe I should have put it a different way, but im sorry facts are facts, from personal experience

Bruno could possibly make a decent trainer. That's where he should focus his energy boxing wise.

The guy is unstable, sincerely not taking the piss here but is that what you want trying to mentor and coach your young lad.
There are many different types of mental illness and I'm not for a second trying to say mental illness means you couldn't do a job like coaching, but Frank is unstable and erratic and also comes across as paranoid and unpredictable. I can only go on what I've seen of him on the tele (as I'm guessing can any of us on here) but he does not seem a well man or even a man well on the road to recovery.
Lovely big fella but I don't really see any return for him in the sport. Keep involved with boxing people by all means, keep up the training, I've no doubt he'll always be welcome by guys like Hatton or who ever to pop round for a session on the pads. But the man I've seen on the box really doesn't strike me as an ideal candidate for mentor for the next generation, as sad as that is.

Must say I have only read about Franks problems, haven't seen him on tv or in person. People with mental illness do hold down jobs though like you say, and I was just thinking of Stephen Fry for example and apparently Jean Claude Van Damme.davie wrote:Really though.Terminator666 wrote:Bruno could possibly make a decent trainer. WHY do you limit him on that front? Doesn't make any sense! None!mimmy123 wrote:
Frank will never be a 'normal' person mentally again, and should never be allowed near a ring. If he wants to be involved in boxing I would suggest finding a few raw amateurs he could work with and bring them forward and progress.
I'm gonna go from here, to BoxRec Frank Bruno. (He got the "Joe" BUGner! Ha ha!)
IF HE GOES...I think what he has idea of is a TYSON- III.
It would sell something!
His age now??

He's 54 right now. Ike Ibeabuchi 44 and making return. They have one hvywt active now same age. Razor Ruddock is..what? 2-1 on a return.
I started a comeback myself at age 56. Now I'm 59 1/2 and yet "plugging away" w/0-0 record. Past accomplishments if he REALLY DESIRE gonna have weight to them. I remember Bugner made an improbable comeback late and did well..until he met a chap name, Bruno, Frank!
What's gonna happen Frank Bruno get licenced after going thru tests? ISIS will attack?

I seen Frank on TV that Round Table talk with Joshua, and Fury (bad talk "reeled in"), too. Doctor must have been wrong.
Maybe he shouldn't have been sectioned after all
Re: Bruno return
Bruno should fight Ibeabuchi. The tagline could be "Mental Demons". They could get them both to wear red/yellow contact lenses for the promo photo shoot.
Sorry.
Sorry.

Re: Bruno return
Bruno has bi-polar and that means people suffering with it can appear perfectly normal if they are having a 'good day'. He isn't well, thats why he's been sectioned more than once. People with mental illness need to be protected for their own safety sometimes and that's why he should never be allowed to box again. As has been suggested maybe go into the training side so he is still close to the sport and can get satisfaction seeing fighters progress.ImranSarwar wrote: I seen Frank on TV that Round Table talk with Joshua, and Fury (bad talk "reeled in"), too. B0xNati0n should start using Bruno as an in studio analyst from time to time.
Maybe do a series on his career.

I agree with what you say, but having someone with a mental illness on live tv could give producers heart failure. People with any form of mental illness can be unpridictable in many ways, for example, you may have someone such as Frank scheduled to appear on a live feed at 2pm, but he does not turn up, what do you do with the live 2pm slot then?
Frank should put all his energy into some raw novices, even if this was a tv series such as The contenders. Find a few raw amateur heavyweights who are about to go pro and follow then over 12 months. A new pro should have 3 or 4 fights in his first years o it would make a good series geting a pro developing over a 12 month period. Series 2 could be..........................??

I dont think anyone is 'ganging up' on Bruno. Here in the UK he is a legend but facts are facts. Frank is ill and should be regarded that for his own safety.ImranSarwar wrote:I was thinking EXACT same thing here. Seem everyone GANG UP ON HIM. Bruno returning? A incredibly BAD idea in the extreme. And it would not be long before it all ends in tears. And I'm not exclusively talking about Frank getting physically beaten up in the ring, but IK dread to think what sort of damage it could do to him mentally. He's fragile enough as it is.
